It sure is a good thing that Yzerman didn't bring Trocheck on at the deadline. Saved the cap space… what is he saving it for? By the grace of god the Wings make the playoffs, they will be swept in the first round…no toughness, I believe in Stevie for sure but Trocheck would have been the grit they needed at the deadline. Thomas is not the gritty grinding type player Trocheck is, it would have lit a fire under Vinny as well, good thing he didn't make that move…save that precious cap space… how frustrating, in 3 yrs he had Tampa challenging for cups…10yrs later the he he can't even get the Wings in the playoffs…and if we get in like I said… it's a first round sweep… this sucks! Let’s be honest, they have a lot of cap space they are not tapping into because the owner doesn’t want to spend. Quality players don’t come cheap. You can’t win with a harbor freight roster.
After years and years of the same story and zero top three picks I think we're stuck in mediocrity. I do feel like everyone not named Debrincat and Seider is playing injured, but we are still missing some major pieces. Hard to find any optimism when they play this bad… on a side note I'm glad to see Anthony Mantha put it together this season.
Just remember these guys r signed for more and really the team over performed. Think of how bad next season will be. I mean how many 40 goal season does cat have in him ?

I’m starting to think that the players don’t think they have a chance to make it. They’re told to stay away from articles and videos etc so maybe in their own heads they think it’s for sure over , not realizing that they were only 2 points out of the race.
Just like last year after the all star break only this year it’s because of the damn Olympics the Wings fall apart and are about to miss the playoffs again for how many pitiful years has it been now ? I swear I was shocked that they didn’t play Talbot in the Philly game after having played Gibson the night before and a hundred games before that. I was worried for him and he hasn’t been the same. He needs rest.

I mean the first round pick means nothing to me. Not worried about it at all. The team needs to be gutted. Not a single person is safe in my book. The fact it happened again is a disgrace I say call up the AHL squad sit Larkin and see what happens bet they play with more heart.
And you two thought the wings were only a few players away from being a competitive playoff team. This team was bad all year and won game despite being outplayed in most thanks to Gibson. The D has zero bite and zero game plan on controlling play in their own zone. Every game the opponent just plants wingers on our blue line and the D never engages them. We struggle to get the puck out of our own zone and have zero forecheck to keep the puck in the o zone. They never and don’t know how to control the neutral zone. Every team in this league knows how to play the Wings. Pathetic this year, just plain pathetic!

Thius team is devoid of talent with the exception of a handful players. Only Cat, Raymond, Mo & Edvinson should be retained. I'm having doubts about Gibson but he is not getting the job done down the stretch. I don't blame Yzerman. NBo toughness on this team.And no @1 pick. I don't care if the team is banged up. All teams are banged up. Now we know why free agents don't want to come here. Larkin is a very good player but he needs to be traded. The coach is not the problem and neither is Yzermaqn. What is danielson, mazor, Leonard not doing in GR that would prevent them from getting called up or playing more? Look at the depth on this team….they can’t do much worse. Bring up the kids and stop talking about the buffalo game…they were lucky and the Sabres were all over them. The worst thing this team can have is a 3/0 lead 99% of the time they choke it away.

I’m sorry, but this year‘s implosion is the final straw for me. I mean it doesn’t matter what I say anyway but all of the problems that I’m currently seeing is predictions that I made going into the season. I said this team would be a bottom 10 team as far as points go at the beginning of the season.
The difference was for most of the season. Gibson was playing an elite level goaltending. He was easily top five best goaltender in the NHL but since the Olympic break, the whole team hasn’t looked good and since the Olympic break, they have the second worst record in the NHL and it might be pushing the worst record in the NHL in that time.
Plus, it doesn’t help that the teams around us are all the sudden playing much better hockey so if the Red Wings were in any other division or in the Western Conference, they’d be a divisional playoff team not a wildcard
It’s crazy to think that even as bad as they’ve played, they still have a significant chance of making the playoffs because all of the teams fighting for that last spot are not very good and I believe the Red Wings are better than all of those teams on paper
But on all honesty, I think Coach Todd has lost the team. I don’t think they’re playing for him anymore. I think we’ve reached the part of the season where they’re tuning him out for whatever reason and it’s so frustrating as a fan to watch because it baffles me, I don’t understand it
And there are so many fans that say oh well, this is fine. We’ve got all these prospects that are gonna come up and be the next generation of players and I don’t see that either. I don’t see a top line player coming up through the prospects we still need a top line center, so Steve is going to either need to trade for that in the off-season or hope that one of these prospects makes huge significant developmental potential where they’re playing out of their mind. I don’t see any of those scenarios happening unfortunately, I think we are reaching the point to where the argument can be made that perhaps this team needs a rebuild.
So if they let Steve go or promote him so he’s not general manager and/or he hast to fire the coach which I think is a possibility this team needs a rebuild. It’s not a good roster. The players don’t complement each other.

Wished you guys had talked about Soderblom. He has been a great addition to PITs line up. I cant imagine why theyd let a player like that go so easily. Not super high skill but he OWNS the wall. Protects the puck there better than most players in the league right now.

The wings need to call a spade a spade and launch into another rebuild. Everyone should be made available and actually commit to the thing this time. Yzerman set us back years when he got upset about losing the lottery during the Raymond draft and stepped on the gas way too early.
