Well we are on the other side of the March collapse

  2. AppleSeiderDonuts

I’m sure its going to be a perfectly pleasant here today. I always love when the calendar turns from February to April.

  3. Dr_Doomblade

Today is the worst day to be on the internet. And that’s not even considering what happened last night.

Is there a softer, more heartless player in the league than Dylan Larkin? All he does is whine and pout when things don’t go his way and take undisciplined penalties. He’s also one of the biggest divers in the league.

At the very least, strip him of his letter but ideally he should be traded. He’s the reason this team has a losing culture.

Didnt think there would be a DGDT today, hold on to your buts

  6. DeanByTheWay

Don’t worry everyone, almost our entire team is locked up to return next season outside of Perron, JVR, Kane, Hamonic and Talbot. We get two more exciting years of Compher, Rasmussen, and Chiarot with their total inability to be a factor on offense.

  7. deadBoybic

The April heater will now commence & the teams gonna get in by the skin of their teeth

Insane how we were less than .500 in March and are still basically where we were when March started.

So, any RFA’s we should target this offseason? With the perpetually growing cap it’ll be difficult to pull off, but with a stagnant UFA market we have to look at all possibilities. Feels like there’s few options available to make this team better.

  9. Mysterious-World691

They shouldn’t have benched ASP. They need all the youth and offense they can get. They are desperate for any goal scorers.

For the first time ever, I’m actually upset I bought tickets to the game vs Columbus next week. I’m from 2 hours away so I basically have to make a day of it too.

I genuinely hate that this team is making me hate going to a game.

I could understand being checked out a little more – I still wouldn’t like it, but I could understand – if we were at the bottom of rankings and had no shot at the playoffs. The apathy when it’s still in reach, or was still in reach, is hard to understand.

  12. big_phat_gator

Wonder what our season would have looked like if we kept Moe, Bert and Larks as a top line. They had unreal chemistry on and off the ice

  13. Burgers1509

Columbus lost 4 straight, Ottawa lost 3 straight, islanders lost 2. And we made it out of march only 2 points out of playoff spot with a game in hand…not sure we can say we never get help or the hockey gods are against us.

  14. I was pissed last season when Larkin whined to the press that stevie didn’t add at the TDL and it « upset » the team. And that’s why we missed the playoffs. Now I’m really pissed because Stevie did add at the TDL with the same shitty result. Only now we don’t have a #1 draft pick and we are STILL missing the playoffs. What will the players find to blame for this year’s total collapse?

  15. dangleicious13

Good thing we traded our 1st round pick for an old defenseman…

  16. 2 points out with a game in hand and we’re allowed to be good again now that it’s April, I know everyone wants to piss and moan but the team is far from out of it.

  17. 2017 Wings team oldest in NHL. 10 years of drafting and Wings are 5th oldest team.

  18. Any-Name533

I keep seeing people on here talk about 200ft players but that would imply that we have sound defensive skill (we don’t), can’t even get out of our own zone properly which is then followed by dumping the puck at the red line to not retrieve it in their corners. What exactly about that is 200ft quality? Them skating around puck less counts I guess

  19. On today’s episode of Days of Our Red Wings: keyboard GMs plot the re-rebuild, optimism stans drip feed hope to angry masses, and some never before seen users pop in to “vent” their “thoughts” about the team they “love”

All this and more on a spicy episode you don’t want to miss! Before you go, please thank our biggest sponsor: the entire Red Wings roster

It a doomer day in the sub. It should be.

Four consecutive years of March meltdowns. That’s inexcusable for a team competing for the playoffs.

If and when this team misses, despite continuing to be better point wise each year, the collapse in March is a leadership problem.

Something needs to change. I don’t know what, but it needs to be a massive move. We can’t keep cycling through every year expecting this not to happen, with mostly the same core players.

Yes this is on Yzerman and he deserves A LOT of criticism but this is also on the players. In a playoff spot for 104 days and all of a sudden you forgot how to be competitive? That’s not a skill issue, that’s a leadership issue.

  21. Jimmyskis77

The fact the height of this rebuild was getting eliminated in a tiebreaker game 82 is pathetic. 10 years and we have nothing to show for it: the only tangible difference between that dreaded 19-20 team and today is that team had a good draft pick…

Something needs to change, hopefully with the leadership on down…

  22. Medievil_Walrus

I think my issue w the optimists revolves around revisionist history and them thinking it’s inappropriate to re legislate past decisions without the certainty of how an alternative pathway or decision tree would have ultimately worked out. I’ve seen irrational defenses for basically every single obvious mistake Steve has made.

The problem here is that sports is literally a prediction and forecasting business.

Time needs to pass before being able to grade any roster move. And time has passed and the mistakes are many. But it’s not all bad. Doing some good things and some bad things, not understanding your team or your rebuild plan and being able to execute your vision or worse you executed your vision and it’s just not good enough, that’s exactly how you spin your wheels in the mushy middle with a losing culture around the team.

With Steve being the primary decision maker for 7 years now charting us a course right into the mushy middle, is he the right one to get us out of this mess? I have my doubts.

  23. A career AHLer in Domink Shine showed more heart than any player not named DeBrincat or Seider.

    And then we scratched him.
