    I wonder how many Canucks this is true for. The whole team really stank from Jan 6 to March 7

    When you get matched up against Reaves line in San Jose and post a 8% xGF%… like at that point, I dont care how bad we think his linemates or team is, thats a 11.6mil player against a slow, old, goon,  how the heck do you get out shot there?

    For those who are unfamiliar with xGF% and just reading these headlines thinking it’s bad, well, the good news is… this is actually *not bad* when looking at the team overall. This isn’t a glazing post, but this proves he is our top player on the Canucks.

    The formula for xGF% is taking 1) Expected Goals For / 2) (Expected Goals For + Expected Goals Against. You multiply this total by 100 to get your percentage. Elite performers usually end the season around 55-65%. Last 6 games he’s at 52.8% which is not off the mark when you consider his teammates.

    Oh, and I have support for that:

    * 2nd is Hronek at 51.2 and *everyone* here loves Hronek.
    * 3rd is Boeser at 50.6
    * 4th was Garland at 49.4
    * 5th is Rossi at 45.4

    The Canucks average 47.8. This also highlights how good Hughes was at controlling play. He was at 58.2 before getting traded.

    Sorry folks, this isn’t the EP40 hate post you were looking for.

    I’m just tired of it all, all the excuses, the lack of production, the lack of looking good with the eye test. Genuinely, watching him skate around makes me feel sad lol but you know what, at least swetes are available in the arena !

    At this point, it’s better for EVERYONE if we move on but I doubt anyone would take him without retention 🥀

  5. Cant wait for everyone to blame Mckenna or Stenburg for his lack of production.
    Who we’re not going to get so what does it all mean aaaagh…

    I’m a Petey fan and miss what he could’ve been, but it sometimes feels like he knows he’s the best player on an awful team and just does enough to look the part. He leads the team in scoring, blocks shots, produces on the PP, but where’s the Petey that won the Calder and looked like a top 10 player. Even if you account for the injury, he shouldn’t completely fall off a cliff.

    Celebrini scored 100 points as a teenager and doubled the next leading scorer on his team. Even with no support and the injury, talent-wise Petey should be far ahead of the team in points, not a 60 point guy.

    I like to reference Pavel Bure’s 2000-01 season. Arguably his last healthy season, at 29, he plays every game and leads the league in goals with 59. The next highest scorer has 37 points. That Florida team was awful save for a young Luongo and yet Bure still brought it every night.

    As a guy who hates EP40, he’s playing better right now.

    Also, as a guy that can put my own selfish emotions aside, the best thing for the organization is for EP40 to regain his form (or at least come close to it) so we can get value back for him.

    So, I’m 100% hoping he can keep it going and build off this last few games of improved play…

    …but then, ‘yes’ trade him the fuck out of here for his sake and ours.

    Crazy what happens when he doesn’t have a linemates name Kane and DeBrusk
