  1. i honestly dont even count the first 3-4 years of this yzerplan. he spent the first half of his tenure cleaning up hollands mess. they dealt with multiple coaches and this year was this first one in the rebuild that i was like okay this actually is starting to come together. people are so impatient and conveniently forget this point on top of the human aspect. most of his drafted players are only just starting to develop into NHL caliber players. I think he gets 2-3 more years. we need to at least wait until the Cossa / Augustine tandem is up and running. by that time all their stars will be in the prime and im sure they will attract free agents by then too. its a work in progress but if youre a real fan this shouldnt be hard to get your head around.

  2. I hope we manage to squeeze in there, I hate to say it, but your mid season skepticism reigned true. These might be hot takes but the four nations and the Olympics both killed our momentum last season and this one, and I feel like the nhl style of trading doesn’t do anyone any favors

  3. Did I just see that Joe Veleno is the best forecheck on the Habs? That was definitely not on my bingo card

  4. Ugh this is a very well thought out articulated and accurate way of saying the boys just won’t fight for it in the corners and we need to bring in somebody to set the tone for dirty greedy hockey. Let’s bring Darren McCarty out of retirement.

  5. As a wings fan if you think Yzerman is going to be fired in even the next 3 seasons you’re delusional. He had plot armor because of who he is to stay in the organization

  6. Detroit is stuck in that low orbit of not good enough but not bad enough either. Seider is a stud and Debrincat is elite but otherwise they lack high end offensive talent. Larkin is a very good player but would be the 2C on any of the elite teams in the league. They need a superstar but they aren't bad enough to draft one

  7. Red Wing management tried to go in two directions at the same time. They signed vets UFA to be competitive now, but traded mid 20s guys at the same time. They could have Hronek, Seider, Walman, Faulk, Edvinsson and Docker for 27.4M$ instead of what they have for 22.7M$ if their goal was to be good now. OR they could have not signed Chiarot, Copp, Compher, sold in 2022 and maybe they would now have guys like Gauthier, and Smith instead of Kasper and Danielsson.

  8. I wonder if putting the wings back in the Western conference (i.e. pre-2013) would help their playoff chances?

  9. The Penguins were playing a back to back and outskated a rested Red Wings team. Not too difficult to see what the problem is. Slow like the Rangers. Duh.
