    No, the new person has not already failed and wasted our time.

    They have some players and also very good goalies and who knows maybe we get lucks and get a top three player at the draft and a few signings and some pieces and we are right back in the thick of it.

    Many teams in different sports hire firms to find executives. This happens all the time. These firms have experts in these fields that vet out candidates, why is this an issue?

    Hire Brian Burke. Not as GM, but as a Mom for Pelley. In the office by 6am every day. Let Pelley know what he has to do and when. Hound him until it’s done. Because it’s clear Pelley has no clue. Burke can act as a project manager and hockey guy and a law guy. Burke made some stupid hockey moves, but the man was always structured. That’s what this team needs right now. Someone who knows what to do and has systems in place to ensure it gets done.

    Unless step one is secure a GM. Step two ask the GM what the plan is.

    Why in the hell do they need an executive search firm?!

    Most GM hires are Old Boys hires. I honestly don’t get it. Don’t they just get referrals from their network. Get a short list of 5-7 GM candidates and then hire one.

    I mean, I can’t imagine they are looking to hire someone way outside the box here.

    I honestly think its time to jump ship. I’ll come back in 5 years when they actually start the rebuild after the failed “retool.” In the mean time, Woll and Otter are friends. Go Stars??

    I still think its bad on him to fire BT this close to the draft. Brad had a plan in place and its going to need the next manager to run it through without him. They need someone to see Brad’s vision and correct it. *if* Brad was retooling then How? Why? What’s next? etc. *if* Brad was rebuilding, then what was he giving away at the draft? Because I doubt he intended to keep this team where it was at… at the same time, I feel a lot like MLSE is keeping players on because of revenue they bring in rather than because they fit the team. So the Brad firing is premature… and should’ve waited until after the draft.

    i think Pelley is looking for Brad Pitt in money ball with help from Jonah Hill, he needs to step aside from operations and let Hockey Smart people insert the needs and expectations for the roles to be filled

    I would think it would be pretty tough to hire someone to run a sports franchise if you don’t have a decent grasp about the league and sport..

    Hope he makes the right hire, but it seems a bit sketchy
