The Leafs have the financial resources, so true to Pelley's word. The Leafs organization definitely needs to increase their expenditures towards scouting and player development by leaps and bounds. A team that has the financial resources that all other NHL teams envy, should have an equal amount of surplus Triple A scouting and player development that every other NHL team envy. The Leafs should never ever trade away anything higher than a 4th round draft pick for a rental player, unless the Leafs are already ensured to make the Stanley Cup Finals and that particular player will guarantee the Leafs the Cup. The current Leafs need to trade away every single Leafs player who is over the age of 29 that is worth anything for picks and prospects but try to get as much value back as possible. Any Leafs player under the age of 29 should be kept for the Leafs future and the ones at the high end of that range will soon be traded away as well within a few years. The Leafs need to accumulate players that have very high levels of skill in skating, puck handling, passing, play making, and of course, scoring. What Treliving valued was something called snot, but having enforcers without good skills is worse than having very skilled players without SNOT. But size and snot is also good as a bonus when that particular player already is very skilled in all other skills. Every current Leafs player over the age of 30 who either has a No trade clause or a No movement clause must be traded although to do so the management will have to persuade that particular player to waive that clause.
The blunders made by Treliving has set the Leafs a lot further back than they were already when Treliving started as GM of the Leafs, so management must be very patient as patience is the most important character trait that the Leafs currently need knowing that it should now take at least 6 years for the Leafs to show any sign of that they are a threat to win the cup.
That is one disaster of a press conference. Thanks for proving you definitely SHOULD NOT be in charge of any MLSE teams, let alone the Leafs.

As I life long leafs fan, I’m honestly very concerned about the direction of this franchise under the current ownership of Roger’s etc. Basically what I got out of that press conference was Keith Pelley doesn’t have a clue about hockey nor the Toronto Maple Leafs. He simply has an unmanageable work load over seeing multiple teams. He used big words and literally created a word salad. Didn’t answer more than half the questions. You literally didn’t see the success of other teams coming? That’s your angle? So in others words your saying we were relying on other bad teams to continue to be bad… how the fuck did you not see the Montreal Canadians coming, seriously?! Buffalo was gonna break through eventually too, and why are you talking about other teams and not your own failures? Miss pronouncing names left and right. Honestly the solution imo is Roger’s provide the money, collect your revenue and stay the fuck out of the way. Hire another CEO for the leafs only, followed by a president, then Gm and go from there.

Me thinks he dost protest too much…so what have you done to create the strategy and vision and bring in the right people? . this team has been set back another 10 years and I can understand how you didn't see buffalo coming, but you didn't see Montreal improving as much as they did? They have one of the youngest teams in the league, they have last year's rookie of the year, three of their players will likely end up in the top five in rookie voting. They have the second leading goal scorer and one of the best two way players in the game. Do you even follow the league and by the way, the leafs are 14th in the conference it's not like they are ninth or 10th and Buffalo and Montreal are the only reason why they are not in a playoff spot. What a bonehead thing to say

Noone is asking for you to be coach or gm, but you gotta jump in all hands on deck to get things going in the right direction. FIRING THE GM is not enough!!! Get involved!!!
