B's fan from Canada. Why can't they go on a run? – if there is a compelling reason, it's consistency. Granted, the last 8-10 games have been very good, 7-1-2, but there have been times during the year when play has just fallen off, and inexplicably. The buy-in needs to be total, and the players, top to bottom need to play for 60 (cliche, but true). If they aren't going to do that, press box. Two other issues that might prevent a deep run are goal scoring (Geekie needs to find the touch again, or a blanket is going to go over Pasta and Zacha) and Defensive liabilities, namely Lohrei. ML does not play with the awareness and tenacity needed for his position and role. He should be converted to the wing over the next year as a project: he has high quality off. skills and his reach would be valuable on the forecheck and in taking away passing lanes. All that said, B's are 3-1 vs. the Sabres and have split with Carolina with one game remaining. Some things would have to fall into place, but they can go deep if they skate their guts out, and continue to rotate the goaltending.
I would love nothing more than a deep run. Every game for them right now is a playoff game. The only concern I have is them burning themselves out before the playoffs. The powerplay is an issue…. too many short handed goals given up and they taking too many dumb penalties. But they have something here that's for sure.
