We’ll be very happy to get either one
I think broad spectrum most teams would pick McKenna 1st overall as it looks like his ceiling is higher offensively than Stenberg. Stenberg has a more complete game though and higher floor. These two are a tier above everyone else.
If the Hawks get 1st overall it’s a toss up who they pick but I think KD would go Stenberg. As the safe pick.
To your other points, if the Hawks land outside the the top 2 and keep the pick. I think it’s gonna be Alberts Smits. He screams Davidson pick, sources say the Hawks love him.
If the Hawks land outside and **DONT** keep the pick, I think they (“**should**”) package that pick the FLA 1st + Korchinski + another minor prospect/mid round picks for a Knies. He fits what the Hawks need, Toronto is in desperate need of some draft capital. Question is if Toronto (the Mecca of Hockey) has the balls to do what’s necessary and go full rebuild.
Knies would fit exactly what the Hawks need right now in not just a power forward with physicality but a top 6 talent that would slot perfectly on Bedards wing, also in the age range of Hawks rebuild.
No it is not worth it to give up the Florida pick if we fall out of the top 2 to trade up. The odds of us even getting that pick are low but if we do it’s going to be a top 15 pick most likely. The #1 overall pick should still be McKenna imo. 32 thoughts had a great segment where they were talking about how McKenna was faced with the impossible task of moving up teams draft boards because you can’t go up from being the consensus #1 pick for the last 2 years you can only go down. After a slow start to the year McKenna was unbelievable later in the season. Him or stenberg would be fantastic additions but we will see. I honestly don’t want this team to trade any draft capital to move up. If they’re going to trade draft capital it needs to be for a solidified star in this league preferably a forward who can play with Bedard. We are loaded with prospects and I think these past two weeks have been a great indicator of how a young team can flounder without a veteran presence. In a perfect world they add a veteran defenseman and forward who are bonified stars in this league. We have the cap space and the resources to make the trade or signing Kyle Davidson just needs to decide if he’s going to be aggressive. I can’t imagine he wouldn’t be on the hot seat after next season if this team isn’t even remotely competitive next year which will be his 5th year as GM.
Mckenna got in a bar fight. Just saying.
In a perfect world FLA pick stays with Florida. Top ten protected. This gives us some breathing room with all our picks in the pipeline. We could have at least 3 picks turn pro and it could be as high as 5 for next season. Both guys have things to work on but both have Offensive skills that we badly need. There will be serious competition at all positions next camp. Team is on the right path. Young kids just need reps and when we finally don’t have to defend all game all the time, then we will see what D is what. Can’t call 20 something’s busts as it’s way too early. We should be out of the bottom 3 next season and maybe have a chance at wild card season after. Anton looks good. Bedsy is a stud. Rest need to hit the net and be more physical. I have faith in Roman. Just like Anton playing against pro men makes a difference. What all these guys do in this off season will be huge. Stenberg or McKenna can probably go straight to NHL. So that will help. Trust the plan. Kyle is smarter than you.
If we stick with number 2 overall. (Hope we do.)
Regardless, we are getting someone very good!
I prefer entertaining scenarios after the draft lottery.
But still, I wonder if trading both our first rounds pics is worth moving up. Tough to say. There are intriguing prospects throughout the top 10 and first round. Lesser immediate impact tho of course
The first round has some super young prospects, and the top two are actually pretty old for this draft.
