It’s the Celebrini effect
Everything is about expectations.
To paraphrase Homer Simpson, we tried and failed and the 2024-2025 Sharks never tried at all.
The Sharks didn’t throw everything and mortgage multiple picks to keep a Quitter happy…
Because the Canucks have a shit owner.
The Sharks were trying to be terrible and continue rebuilding via the draft. The Canucks were trying to make the playoffs and be a contender in order to keep their franchise Dman interested in sticking around. They aren’t the same thing, therefore they shouldn’t be treated the same, imo.
The Sharks were actively tanking and weren’t trying to win.
The Canucks this season was actively trying to compete for a playoff spot and instead ended up dead last by a wide-ass margin.
The sharks deliberately tanked.
The canucks were forced to tank kicking and screaming.
There is a difference.
If we pick up McKenna this year and the Ruck twins and DuPont a year after and we still are bottom of the barrel in year 3, there will be articles written like this about us. Of course Canucks fans know about exciting hockey, watching the young D core get better, watching the BRO line, but it will take one or two extremely high draft picks (like what the Sharks got with Will Smith and most importantly Celebrini) for any major media to notice it.
If its media noise, it’s toronto noise. They suck and have no hope. Therefore, its just jealousy
We should be pointed and laughed at. This organization is a joke.
San Jose never claimed they’d be anything but shit. Canucks front office tried to convince us they were a step away from contending.
Depends on if you BeZeev in the future
One is a team that was bad and rebuilding
The other trying to be a contender.
We are not the same jpg
The Sharks went into that year with a plan to tank and build around a rookie superstar. We went into the year with a goal to make playoffs and do something with a core in its prime. That’s the difference
