Not much of an overpayment. One extra pick. I would take Zharovsky over Charlie Cerrato and a goalie we don’t need.

I think Hage still has more upside and will likely play sooner as Zharovsky needs to bulk up a bit to play in the NHL. But that’s just me.

It is still to be determined if the Habs overpaid. Other GMs state the Habs got a steal by picking him.

As long as he’s listed at the same weight as Lane Hutson despite being over 6’ I’m not gonna get my hopes up too much.

It is pretty cool that he and Demidov were childhood friends
As great as Demidov has adjusted to living in North America (by all accounts, it sounds like he loves Montreal, and has also done a great job with his English), you have imagine there can only be upside to having a friend and fellow countryman coming over. It will also be a big benefit to Zharovsky to have that contact when coming over as well
Its hard to tell how you would fit all the pieces into the lineup, but if you are even approaching the projections for him, demidov and hage, that could be an amazing future line 2 behind Nick, Cole and Juraj

So basically, the picks that we traded for Dobson end up being the same player we would’ve chosen with that pick anyways. In a way it makes the Dobson deal much better.
Losing Heinemann still hurts but him and a first and a second for Dobson and Zharovsky is excellent business

For all the people who know nothing about trade values, a 41st + 49th is worth the 29th pick in a fair trade.
Just because they got a good player out of it doesn’t make it a fair value trade. It just explains why they were willing to overpay.

Kinda crazy because Hage had a wicked season too. Hard not to pick Zharovsky though when he shattered records.
Honorable mention to Pickford too. What he’s doing is also incredible.
