Its cheaper for Habs and Leafs fans to travel to NJ then watch a game in their own barn. This always happens, its just more then usual cause of how bad we are and how good they have been
Guy next to me explained the long weekend made it popular to leave town. Most / all of Canada had off work for Good Friday

You said it yourself, Habs have something to play for. Meanwhile, the Devils season has been over a while ago.
Season ticket holders are fools anyway. Tickets are mostly cheaper day of.
The team is an absolute wagon right now. Massive win streak, playoffs coming, young exciting team & not to mention Cole Caufield might hit 50 tonight.
Heck I can even get behind them. Their window is opening and they aren’t in the metro. Great arena to visit too, would recommend visiting them!
Likelyhood of them playing Devils right now in a cup playoff round would be low especially with Tom Fitzgerald in charge.
At this point you have to question if the Devils window is « closing ». Sad but reality. Montreal window is opening as they’ve been through a rebuild and has young players.. Very similar to Devils in 22-23 if you remember all the excitement. « were going to be great, the future is bright »

Hard to stop saying how great this team is going to be IMHO (even as a loyal devils fan and STM) I’m a MTL fan right now with the Devils missing the playoffs.
I remember going to a Devils game where they played flyers and there were two rows of Habs fans. Made no sense but there they were.

Habs fans have always traveled well. During some of the really lean years when tickets were super cheap they would try to get entire sections. It’s similar if you’ve ever been to an away Yankees game where the majority of the stadium is Yankees fans. Big fan bases travel well.
