Meh. First loss in nine games. We clinch a playoff spot today anyway. You know who didn’t clinch and won’t? The Devils 🙂

  2. mods-r-loserssss

If we played more than 10 mins of good hockey we might have stood a chance. This is one of those games that the refs were handing us some calls for a change and we couldn’t capitalize. Team looked like they understandably gassed. At least we clinched today, because next week’s schedule is pretty brutal too.

  3. The good: no injuries.

The bad: *gestures vaguely at everything from start to finish of this game.*

  4. Rebound against Florida and then a huge game against Tampa if we want to make this division push legitimate. Tank was empty tonight, it happens. They’ve been playing great hockey recently this should just be a blip

    GHG

  5. Beefiest_bison

We were due for a stinker, but imagine paying a fortune to see Caufield score 50 and getting this performance 💀

  6. Reading the game day thread… People need to relax. Onto the next.

  7. Old_General_6741

This game was already coming. We couldn’t keep the streak on for long. Nice that we had the streak and claimed a spot in the playoffs.

  8. A stinker was expected but holy shit, that was painful to watch

  9. willard287

Off night, shit happens. They just won 8 games in a row, they clinched a playoffs spot and are tired. I just hope Caufield scores his 50th soon so we can move on

Looking at the game thread you’d think the Habs are missing the playoffs with this loss lol

  10. The one *tiny* positive is at least I felt like it’s better if we lost one before the season ended to ground the team a bit before the playoffs… right?

  11. sebgotaburner

LET 50 COME NATURALLY. Stop force feeding him the puck

  12. chewbaccard

Alright, deep breaths everyone, they won 8 in a row before tonight. Nothing worked, on to the next one.

  13. Nobodylovesboston

Ughhh one of those ugly games where no one can score??? Prepare yourself cuz the Habs will score 5+ on tuesday

  14. A bit of an underwhelming way to celebrate clinching the playoffs, but all good things must come to an end, and you could plainly see the team was out of gas. Tell everybody to take a spa day tomorrow.

  15. MildlyResponsible

Well, the last Habs W8 ended with a 10-0 loss to Columbus, so this is fine in comparison. It was bound to happen, I guess. Losing is one thing, but whatever this was….It was the worst game I’ve watched them play in a quite a while. Hopefully they rebound.

  16. MSL AND Caufield need to tell the guys to stop thinking about the 50th goal, it will come, just fucking play your game.

  17. I blame all of you people who collectively jinxed it with the 50 goals talk.

As Marc Denis said it’s fine to lose in the grand scheme of things; just won 8 in a row and clinched a playoff spot. The big problem here for me seems to be the lack of production from our bottom six. We’ve just had a big winning streak and are one of the best teams offensively, yet if you go and take a look at their (3rd and 4th line) individuals stats, it’s pretty bad. Even horrible. Goaltending and defense looks good right now but we’ll need some help from our forwards in the playoff if we want to win.

  19. People need to chill TF out… we had a bad game… after winning 8 straight including 3 against the best teams in the conference, AND we clinched today.

Let’s celebrate what they’ve accomplished, we aren’t going to win every game.

  20. bcgrappler

    They were cooked.

Tired team, tried way to hard to force plays, jersey played loose.

Oh well, they literally cant win every game, and after the emotion of 5 road wins and clinching today in a back to back.

Im not going to be a loser fan and make a bigger deal out of this game then it is.

  21. That game was a complete waste of time. Since the Jays also didn’t show up I feel like I’ve wasted the day.

  22. Pitiful_Stock_4329

That was a TERRIBLE game feel like all of our best players stank it up tonight.

  23. Brutal game. No power play goals despite many chances is a bit concerning. Hope they rebound on Tuesday

  24. Don’t sweat it folks- We’ve had an EXHAUSTIVE schedule and the math was screaming at the streak to end soon, but we clinched today and that’s what matters the most

I am more worried about Tuesday and how dirty the Panthers will still be despite being out. We don’t need any injuries heading into the playoffs

  25. epoidacapo

Lazy hockey for about 95% of the game.

Nice that we clinched already but we need to keep the momentum going into the first round.

  26. not a great game but good teams have those sometimes and get punished for it

the streak was nice while it lasted and we’re still clinched for the plyaoffs, so, *shrug*

regroup and bounce back against the Florida teams.

  27. captaincanada84

Terrible game. Shit happens though. 8 game win streak and everyone was obviously gassed. Hope they get some rest. Recoup. Come out good on Tuesday.

  28. They looked tired, sloppy. Streak had to end sometime, I’m OK with it happening on the day we clinched a playoff spot. They need to rest up now!

And those of you who believe in jinxes like not saying « shutout » etc. (I don’t) – saying « I hope Cole doesn’t score until it’s back home » was a jinx.

    That is all.

  29. Well at least we hit them hard. That double hit on L Hughes was perfect.

  30. For sure, we can’t say the refs didn’t help us.

For sure, we will eventually lose.

For sure, this isn’t the end of it.

I’m glad we clinched, at least there’s that. The Devils still have to crawl a bit more, so there’s nothing to worry about. Literally, the rest of the week is solely to see if Caufield can score 50. We are in victory laps mode. There’s no reason to overforce anything til Playoffs. They get injured, it’s worst.

  31. astonedgecko

It was a home game but it was another game with travel added to a long road trip. They’ll get some practice and bang up Florida

  32. Phobos_Nyx

It was bound to happen, you can’t win them all, on to the next one. One thing though, I know they want to help Caufield get to 50 but they have to stop trying to find him even if he isn’t open, it’s just too obvious at this point. Just play as you did for the past few games and the magical 50 will come.

  33. UPSGuyDidYourMom

terrible game but man am i happy we aren’t blaming our goalie for once. i call that progress.

  34. SavageRengar

Meh, just won 8 in row, clinched playoffs and it was the first game home after a long trip. Off night, they’ll bounce back.
