This is all part of the Yzerplan trust the process. The playoffs were never apart of the plan this season still in the rebuild section of the plan. Few more years till the playoffs are expected.
Does everybody forget that came scored to tie the game? And the wings played terrible for the first two periods? And they can’t keep teams from scoring goals on the penalty kill?

I'm a Wild fan, so I was happy about it. But even I was like "What the heck are you thinking?!" He is way too experienced to take such a dumb penalty.

Even if it was a dumb penalty, this season was lost long before this game so you can't blame it on 88. He's contributed much more to this team that a lot of other guys this season.
Wings have a very difficult decision to make with this team. Do they trade their veterans and take a deep dive to the very bottom and hopefully land first and second picks of the draft for a few years? They have several very good young players but not sure any game changers? Off season shall be interesting
If your trying to run Kaner out of town for this you might want to rethink that given he is the only one who consistently has made a play down the stretch. It can and probably will get worse if he is not brought back.
Kane was one of the only players I noticed during the game. I guess when you're trying to do it all, you might take a penalty sometimes.
Wings were slow and honestly I dont know how they tied it. It was a good game though.

Kane didn't cost us the season. He's one of the only guys scoring the past few games and then he made a mistake. Wings were lucky to even come back to tie it up in the first place.
The roster itself is subpar and it's all on Yzerman. Period.
I will forever love Stevie Y as our Captain but the Yzerplan is faulked! This was an incompetent rebuild and it's many years away from being over so we are really faulked.
The lack of heart and grit over the last month and a half is what cost this team its not all on Kane but that was stupid . We need a 3 rd and 4 th line that can actually score need to dump about half of this team there to weak
He's slow takes stupid penalties and sucks hard on defense. And is way too expensive. Ship him.
Your insight is amateur at best. Kane did take a stupid penalty but the entire team played like dog $hit. They needed to come out and play like they did against Philly and they didn't. You can't expect to be in the playoffs when you never play a complete game. You can't just show up half way through the third and expect good things to happen. At least Kane is putting the puck in the net. Where is Ras and Compher? Where is the bottom half of this roster? Where is Yzerman in all of this? This experiment isn't working–time for significant trades. Larkin has got to go.
It was a dumb penalty…that said…Kane and DeBrincat have been two of the only Wings putting forth solid consistent efforts lately. They’d have been done two weeks ago without Kaner !!!

What a strange year. I had a strong feeling… I would say I knew but really how would anyone know for sure….. But I really thought the Wings would get bumped off that 2nd wild card in yet another March Meltdown. I said it was too early to roll the dice for a 2nd pair RHD at that price. That blockbuster trade. It's time. No player is safe.
When the coach is still trying to get players to play hard every shift 75 games into the season you do not deserve to make the playoffs and if by some miracle you managed to qualify you would get bounced in the first round. Take the draft picks and get rid of players who need more motivation than multi million dollar contracts should provide…
Bringing back ASP seems like too little, too late but his offense has been sorely missed.
Some heads need to roll in this organization. Call it bad chemistry, mismanagement, poor decisions, whatever. This org is a winged wheel failure.

It was a bad penalty, by a player who definitely knew better, and despite the wings climbing back into the game, they didn’t deserve to win it. This team has to quit waiting to find their urgency until they are down big nearing the last half of the third period. That’s not sustainable, and they’re not sustaining. Shame on Kane for putting one of the best PP teams on the PP but this is really on the entire team.

Let's not kid ourselves. The Wings had 8 shots combined in the first 2 periods. They've won 8 of their last 24 games. They have no business making the playoffs.
To those like this bone head who think that Kane might have cost the wings the playoffs, You should be directing your thoughts to Nov25 when the wings went 5-9. Or Jan where the went 8-7. Or March when they went 5-9. That’s not a playoff team. To think that a single penalty in a single game cost the wings the playoffs is just stupid
