  1. A change was probably needed. Seems like Roy lost the locker room. DeBoer is just a nightmarish choice. His track record, especially with goaltenders, is horrible. Bruce Cassidy should have been the pick. I only hope that DeBoer doesn't ruin Sorokin. And actually, with Ottawa's win today, the Isles are 1 point below the playoff line. And they don't play again until Thursday.

  2. There's probably more behind the scenes we arent seeing to have this happen. Maybe Roy and Darsche don't have a good relationship.

  3. Simple to understand. It's all about the dynamics between the owner and the GM. Look at the moves Mathieu Darche made and you can easily deduct what he promised the owner to get the job. Now he's going full-on kneejerk move in the hopes it will shake the team enough to send them on a winning spree and make the playoffs, and fulfill the promise he made, knowing too well he didn't have the roster for it. Roy saved his bottom by putting the team there. Then he fires him like its his fault. Total amateur move.

  4. Very surprising move. Roy and Darche had a very good working relationship by all accounts and it was expected Roy would keep his job into next season even if they missed the playoffs, as they weren't really expected to be a playoff team this year anyway. Darche really wanted DeBoer I guess, no other reason to not let Roy finish the season.

  5. Roy can hold it together for long stretches but it seems eventually his volcanic temper can
resurface leaving a trail of burning bridges.

  6. These front offices trying to emulate Vegas without knowing why they do the cutthroat move they do is pretty insane
But it just goes to show that everyone is always watching Vegas

  7. Isles fan here, I think the Isles wanted to snatch up Pete before the off season and he went to another team. Just my guess

  8. Think they were just rushing to get Deboer before anyone else could, and it says less about Roy and more about how "hot" of a commodity PDB was on the market. I have my own opinion, but in general the league seems to place high value on him and he's got all the credentials. On paper he looks better than Roy and maybe this will work out in the long term, it's just the timing that's surprising. But no doubt Roy will get another chance soon in this game of musical chairs

  9. Vegas firing Bruce Cassidy didn't surprise me. The Islanders firing Patrick Roy 😳 did not see that coming. They've got delusions of grandeur.

  10. Firing your coach with 4 games left, and you are 1 point out of the playoffs, is like pulling your goalie with 9 minutes left when you're down by 2.

  11. If I said here what I actually thought about patrick roy, someone would report my language, and I would be banned from Youtube. Bottom like, I cannot stand him.
