🔖 Hashtags #LGRW #RedWings #Griffins #GoGRG #AHL #NHL #Hockey #7MinuteWings #HockeyTalk #NHLPlayoffs #HockeyNews

  1. its pretty clear at this point that the scripted model of other professional sports has made its way to the n.h.l. isnt it convenient that when the games matter most and teams should be fighting for playoff positioning we have teams like NY islanders and Columbus blue jackets completely tanking when both teams should have been virtual playoff locks at this point and the last playoff spot decided aleady. isnt it "convenient" for the 3rd year in a row now we have something like 6 or 7 teams virtually tied for the last playoff spot and Philadelphia and Washington who were both selling at the deadline have suddenly reentered the playoff picture?? dont be surprised to see Boston go on a losing streak to make this "playoff race" interesting to that many more fan bases who will "tune in" all the way to the end. these types of standings and the jockeying and long losing and winning streaks of teams at the end of the season was NEVER the way of things. this has only been seen in recent years and its not a "natural" occurance.

  2. Our zone entries are terrible. Same ole dump and chase. Watch Pittsburgh against us, they skate it into the blue line and then hold the puck then send a pass to center where players are rushing in. Never seen us attempt that in the past decade.

  3. Steve Yzerman is my favorite player of all time. I grew up practicing his moves in the 80s and 90s, and I still have a poster of him laminated from childhood up on my garage wall.

That said, if he doesn't do something drastic, I'm all for moving on. And by drastic, I don't mean trading unprotected 1st round picks for guys in their mid 30s. At a minimum, you strip Larkin of the C. He's been a diving, embellishing, whiner since he got here, nothing has changed. He's never been captain material, but got it by default. I'd prefer him traded, but that NMC until 2028 really makes that difficult. I think the problem with this team is far bigger than him, but he's certainly played a big role in all of the collapses. Yzerman carried this team on his back in the mid and late 80s and never once said his GM let him down by not making trades. That's a captain. Larkin inspires nothing but doubt. Trade him while the Olympics are still a recent memory.
