  1. Where’s my boy with the “Jenkins, fetch me my bathing toaster” cat?

  2. Shackman58

Watching that end to end Tim Stutzle goal last night. That’s what big game players do in big games. Nothing like that from Detroit.

  3. Mendoza8914

Now that we’re almost done here, I can honestly say I will not remember our Centennial season fondly.

That one hurt yesterday I’m not gonna lie. Just when you start to become adjusted to the reality of this team sucking ass and blowing their playoff chances time and time again they inject you with some excitement and hope to only grab your heart and send it deep back into the catacombs of pain and despair.

I’m just happy that was an afternoon game so I had time to get over the L and enjoy the rest of the evening.

FIRE SY, NUKE CORE. THIS TEAM IS SOFT A BABY S***!!!!

  6. Dr_Doomblade

As I was watching the comeback I wanted to believe. I really did. But then I remembered who they are.

  7. I’ve seen some shitty takes here lately, but to this sub’s credit, no take here has been as shitty as that absolute weapon on The Ticket this morning who said Seider hasn’t had a good NHL career so far.

Our boys may be in a slump that will end post season hope, but at least they weren’t pixarified in the Inside Out classic.

    For all the « doomers » who say « non doomers » are Yzerman apologists… Here’s another reminder from a « nom-doomer ».

It’s late season, and we’re once again losing steam. We have razor thin margins and every mistake is magnified because we’re free falling. And this is happening despite the fact that most of our key players have been doing more or less what you need of them. And once again we have absolutely zero useful depth or ancillary scoring and support. We run into situations where you can’t afford to have a single star player have a bad game because if they do virtually everything else collapses. And we sit here struggling to find 1-2 centers play at NHL level let alone cover for injury. And we have 3-5 « jerseys » skating around on a given night and are cycling through benching the depth that was to bring us that glue and resistance and frankly relief. *And we have the 2nd most available cap space in the league*.

Everything that’s been said about tenacity and energy and slow starts and cohesion, you name it, is valid, and yet we once again are staring in the face of talent gaps at key places in the roster and toiling around the edges with middle road few agency additions that aren’t moving the needle. Even to where is Coach is calling it out mid-season.

And that falls directly on Steve Yzerman. If this team misses the playoffs, every single player and *especially* everyone in management needs to take a long hard look in the mirror because on the whole it isn’t good enough.

  10. I know they’re completely different sports but as a pistons and wings fan it’s wild watching the pistons go from 14-68 with a record 28 losses in a row two years ago to easily clinching the no.1 seed in the east while at the same time watching the wings crash and burn the exact same way the last 3 years.

PSA: your half baked takes don’t need their own thread.

  12. In my mind, the only logical think to do now, is use one of Augustine/cossa to package for an elite forward or elite dman acquisition. We have a very low ceiling unless we take a big swing now. Our defensive top pair options are extremely limited after Hughes was passed on, not sure any dman of that caliber will be on the block in the near future

So only way we make the playoffs is if we outpace Ottawa in the final 5 games. Ottawa has 2 more points but also has the tiebreaker. We honestly need to go 5-0, or like 4-0-1, the lost point yesterday was massive (thanks Kane).

We got CBJ, PHI, NJD, @TBL, @FLA. No excuse to lose any of those games if in theory they cared (TBL will likely be shutting down players by then).

Ottawa has TBL, FLA, @NYI, @NJD, TOR….hmm that’s pretty easy, yah there is no way we are outpacing Ottawa who am I kidding.

  14. ThunderBladeX64

Terrible end to what was honestly a pretty damn good year otherwise. Not really sure what I want to see in the offseason.

Other than some Kerry bombs but, y’know.

  15. lunchboxthegoat

    second and final PSA:

    (its a two parter)

    1. If you trade Larkin you might as well trade DeBrincat and are committing to another 5-7 years of no playoffs.

    2. If you think there’s any chance Yzerman gets fired you’re absolutely high.

  16. LGRW_Sparty88

Can’t decide but I think I’d have rather had them lose 7-1 like I thought they were going to after 2 periods. I had already given up on the game so the rest of my day probably would’ve went better and I wouldn’t have had it in the back of my mind.

  17. mariogotzebayern

I guarantee this team will finish on a 5 game winning streak only to 1) miss the playoffs by 1 point or 2) miss the playoffs via a tiebreaker. That’s just the kind of torment this team is into.

  18. antiheropaddy

Was sitting in section 226 eating popcorn when the Wild scored the fourth goal. Bit the shit out of my tongue when I yelled. Hurts like hell rn.

Ripped this off of instagram who ripped it off of twitter…

This is where a lot of anger comes from in the younger generation of wings fans I believe…

The past is cool and all, but at some point it’s time to make new memories, you can’t point to that 96-08 run forever, it’s how you end up like the Habs or leafs… idolizing cups from generations ago

A 14 year old leafs fan has seen 10x as much success from their team than a 14 year old Wings fan…

  20. I’m in a DOOMER mood this morning, so buckle up.

I know this is hindsight 20/20 but back when the salary cap was tight, and we were flush with cap space, why didn’t Yzerman splash that cash and bring in real NHL talent when it was available?

Now that the team could use a trade or big UFA signing, every team has extra cap money. No one actually wants to come here b/c we SUCK MOOSE BALLS as an organization- The luster of working for Stevie Y has worn off. The Original Six allure is slowly fading- if it ever was a thing. Et’s also not forget that it’s going on ten years since we tasted playoffs.

So we’re stuck wanting and needing- but realistically there’s no fucking way we’ll be able to get the type of players we need to get us over the hump. It’ll be Groundhog Day- again- for the foreseeable future. We’ve dug a hole and instead of digging ourselves out, more dirt keeps falling on our heads.

All out future hopes are pinned on the drafted kids. IF they fail then the rebuild fails and it’s back to square one.

  21. PitifulPossum

I dont care about any of the fancy goals he’s scored or his power play vision and great passes. I hope I dont have to see Kane touch Red Wing ice ever again. Get off my team and retire

  22. datsyukiandekes13

Found out last night I am losing my apartment because the owners are selling it. This has been my favorite place I’ve ever lived and it’s been my home. Couldn’t even sleep last night knowing I was losing it. Wish I could buy but I’ll never be able to afford it.

  23. AshtrayJaqueem

    Hot takes:
This team has had no improvements for the past 3 years… If anything it has severely regressed. Gibson is the only reason we were competitive this year, he stole so many games that we shouldn’t have won. We have no depth scoring, only 3 forwards are actually producing and they are hot and cold.
