  1. God, Tarasenko has been such a revelation this year. It’s about time one of these older former scorers actually showed up

The only non-upgrade I would say is Rossi <—> Yurov, but Yurov has grown a lot so I’m not complaining. Other than that, and upgrade for every single aspect

We will see how it goes but to me this is the most complete team we’ve had in years as well as some of the best team chemistry we’ve had in a long time. Which is not a tangible stat but I do buy in to it as something that matters. Listening to JHS this morning and they pointed it out as well, this team goes to bat for each other every flipping night. That’s huge for the playoffs. Bigger, stronger, more imposing and way more protective.

  4. Merrill was actually so bad he pissed me off so much last year 😭

    Hughes is a no-brainer improvement.

Rossi is a better score than Yurov is (now anyway).  Yurov might be a safer/solid defensive player.

Other than that, I think they are replacing solid defense and « safe » players with subtle skill or more proven bottom six NHL skill and speed.

None of this should be taken as a given that the result will change.  But the team has what it takes to win.  They are not afraid of Dallas nor their reputation.  Should be interesting how they stack up.

NEVER FORGET WE LOST THE ENTIRE SERIES LAST YEAR BECAUSE OF GUS NYQUIST BEING OFFSIDES 🗣‼️‼️‼️

    FUCK GUS NYQUIST

I won’t argue about the upgrades, because I believe that’s what they are, I do want to point out that last year’s team was a Nyquist offsides away from going up 3-1 on Vegas. A team that we outplayed for large stretches of the series. But we’re not playing Vegas this year, we’ve got Dallas locked in and they’re, in my opinion, a better team top to bottom than that Vegas team was. Should be great hockey either way!

  8. Skill aside, the size gains alone from left to right are what bolster a long playoff run. You see these teams that go on deep runs and yes they have the flash of the top 6, but it’s the Kadris, Lucics, Sam Bennnets of the world, for us, the Foligno boys.. that get you through the grind. Yes I miss Rossi’s complimentary scoring but he isn’t going to grind like McCarron or Yurov, or even Trenin.. deep in series it’s those guys putting in the work so that Kaprisov and Boldy don’t double, triple shift in games 5,6 or 7 and burn themselves out. They were not sexy moves! But this was such a good strategy this season 👏🏻 👏🏻

The only slot I’ll concede to LY is Rossi/Yurov, but long term Yurov May end up being better.

Faber & Boldy both having full on break out years is a factor as well. Both took the leap from great promising young player to young star

Hughes, Vladdy, and Brink/Foligno are upgrades in my opinion. Rossi and Gaudreau are downgrades

This team is a major improvement over last year in every way. Chemistry, talent, depth, and physicality. This leaves out Fluery -> Wallstedt. At this point I may prefer wally to gus bus in the net for game one… 3rd and 4th lines in particular are MUCH improved, Foligno line is pretty dang good. In the playoffs last year Vegas just physicially dominated us, I don’t think that can happen to us this year.

Hats off to Billy G. We are in a tough spot with Dallas and Colorado but team is the most talented they have ever been. Now they need to prove they can win meaningful hockey.

  14. They have everything they need to win it all, that they can reasonably control.

Sure you could swap in a couple more pieces or maybe a top center but there would be subtraction somewhere as well. Obv puck luck and hot goalies a thing too but they definitely don’t need some miracle to win
