RW Media is insanely tame compared to other markets. Even if they’re being harsh, we’re exiting year NINE of a playoff drought. Fans and Media have every right to expect results especially with the pattern of late year implosions year after year. This interview was just cringe to watch. It felt like to me they we’re inferring the fans and media is the reason they haven’t been successful lately, which is a incredulous to think.
Pick me behavior does not win hockey games. Leadership in the locker room needs a mix up. Brutal

O6 franchise. Wearing this jersey is a privilege, not a right. That privilege comes with responsibility, expectations, pressure, and ultimately, that is the players cross to bear.
Look boys, no one expects you to win a cup right now, but we do expect you to play well, night in night out, and if you don’t do that, yeah, you are going to hear about it.
The facts of the matter is, that this is another late season collapse, and just like Todd and Steve said at the end of last season, this is on the players. It’s on you. So yeah, you are gonna fucking hear about it, and it is your responsibility to internalize that, and do better.

Time for larkin to go. What’s he at like 4 even strength points in 26? I’m good we can replace that production.

Loser alert. If the media and fans are bugging them then they’re soft. They play soft. Get this dough boy out of here.

Copp always has pretty reasonable takes in the media. And he doesn’t do as much hockeyspeak as most people do. Get past the first two meatball questions and he’s got great comments. Missing the net, shots wide, needing to play free, needing to start it earlier in games, having no choice but to attack the end of the season, how a single shift can be contagious (in a positive way but acknowledging it could go bad like in the 2nd), playing with confidence, etc.
You can say what you want about our media not being the idiocy of Toronto for example but listening to what Copp says about tempo, confidence, needing a shift etc. he’s got a lot of really fair reflections.
E: to add one from the past with copper…I think it was last season (maybe this season, I can’t recall) and he had been on a really poor stretch and was asked about it…his comments were so on point about how to right it and super honest and specific about how he sees himself and what he needed to do to get better. It was super critical and fair and he went on a total burner afterwards.

We need to start aiming for a higher echelon of Michigan hockey alumni in our recruitment

Everytime copp opens his mouth I want him off the team.
The other day after the loss to Philadelphia he sounded like he was living in a fairy tale talking about how the teams process is sound, they’re starting faster etc etc.
It’s not his fault he’s being thrust into 2C minutes with bottom 6 talent but if you’re relying on this guy to be a voice in your locker room it’s no wonder why the team is so fucking soft.

1. The banality of these questions….
2. He didn’t say anything wrong.
3. This team lacks leadership at the player level and has for a decade.

Blame the fans for spending their hard-earned money to watch a team fall apart again. At least the fans care enough about hockey to want to see some decent hockey.

I don’t know what “jam” Copp is hoping to find. It’s been practically non existent the entire season.

They clearly don’t hate losing enough.

Oh woe is me. Won’t anyone think of the millionaire athletes?
Edit: seriously fuck these guys. They get paid to play a fucking kids game.

Oh, the issues have alrdy started to happen dude. Guy sounds so deflated and uncaring. Yawn. Time to hang em up

Excuses of a loser! It’s not me.

Todd basically said “shame on him” if he feels that way and “maybe thats why were so fragile mentally”
Shotokanguy
Dude never made an excuse, didn’t suggest the fans and media were too harsh, and didn’t say that the pressure was too much. A lot of you just want to feel smug by suggesting they’re mentally weak.
And yeah, maybe they are. But you don’t actually know what’s going on in their minds.

Do these guys know what happens in the real world when you don’t perform well at your job?

So it’s the fans and media bringing the team down? Got it. I’d love to bring more jam but it’s kinda hard when you keep finding yourselves down by 3 goals…

At least we were spared Larkin’s dour « Little Bo Beep Who’s Lost Her Sheep » routine, all sullen and owl-eyed as he waxes melancholic about « we lost our game there for a while » and other dribble. He exudes nothing to me of being able to rally a team. He shows zero fire. If the team is feeding off of him, it’s nothing but gloom and doom. I honestly do not think he deserves to be the captain after this year.

I woke up at 2am to go to work today , but yeah that Andrew Copp sure has got it rough with the fans booing

Coach is right. We can’t be lollygaggin’ around our zone, lollygaggin’ up the ice, and lollygaggin’ around in the O zone. What would that even make us?

Appreciate the interview but Not gonna listen. The team lacks talent. End of story.
