@Maple Leafs de Toronto

[Cam Robinson] Manny Malhotra dans le mix alors que Toronto évalue les options d’entraîneur est remarquable étant donné que Mike Gillis est un candidat sérieux pour le rôle de président des opérations hockey. Il y a là une véritable histoire.

  1. Didn’t this guy get demoted twice before we ultimately fired him? What are we doing here.

Malhotra didn’t get a fair shake under Keefe (collateral hit).. However, the special teams magic he did was evident …

I also remember the stories of how Hitchcock had Manny as the interface between the coaches and players in CBJ..

  3. He was our assistant for the power play in 2020-21, what did he do for us after that?

Sorry, it’s been a busy Easter weekend for me and I’ve got to ask: are we talking about bringing Mike Gillis in to be President? What’s he even been doing since driving the Canucks straight into the ground?

Malholtra’s son is also ranked as a top 5 North American player in this year’s draft. Which means Boston will probably pick him at #6 with our pick 😉

  6. It’s funny seeing the difference in reaction from Canucks Fans & Leafs Fans when it comes to Gillis & Malhotra.

Canucks fans (for the most part) would love to have Mike Gillis return and be the President Of Hockey Operations again. I think like 9/10 Canucks Fans would probably welcome a reunion.

RE Manny, it’s pretty much unanimous among Canucks Fans that Manny Malhotra should be the next coach, because they’re worried about another team poaching him.

Honestly may as well just ask Cujo or Sundin

See if they want one last shot at winning a cup with the leafs

And it’s about the only way they can get burned fans excited again

Is there any actual juice to the names being thrown around for these positions or are people just saying stuff? Like Malhotra in the mix? How and why do we know that? Same with that AGM from the Panthers. Are these people that “make sense” or is there a legitimate source saying they’re being considered?

So did rogers want to eliminate the president role completely than saw how bad the team was this year snd are panicking and are thinking a president is necessasary again?

  10. How the fuck do you hire a coach before the GM.

    These people are fucking stupid.

  11. toasterscience

Manny is a good guy (I played high school volleyball with him). Fingers crossed for him.

There are several experienced winning executived including Stan Bowman, Dean Lombardi, Jim Rutherford, Doug Armstrong, Kelly McCrimmon, Joe Sakic, who have actually won cups that they could hire in these roles.

Bring in a smart inexperienced analytics guy as your assistant GM to learn the job and provide analytics support to the GM.

But we should focus on hiring at least 1, preferably 2 proven cup Winners.

Mike Gillis hasn’t been a hockey executive in 12 years, I’d suggest if he was some savant he would’ve been hired, I don’t know… 12 years ago?

  14. These talks are disrespectful to take place while a current coach is in place

  15. PapiMatthew

Is it still April fools? I’m sure Malhotra is a fantastic guy but he ran the powerplay into the ground here

  16. Just have someone do all three atp and it’ll probably be better than what we have now

I wish I had some measure of interest and excitement. But honestly I’m exhausted by this team and organization. Whomever they choose won’t make any difference. The Leafs aren’t a hockey team. They’re a blue chip corporation that focuses on generating never ending profits and dividends for its limited obscenely wealthy shareholders. The fans are taken for granted and we have it coming to us. The tickets are either part of inherited wealth or corporately owned. When your boss says ‘you want the pair for the game’ politely decline. Change the channel when they come on the TV. Ignore them. That’s the only message you can send that MAY make a change, but not unless the numbers are huge. Probably will never happen, so it’s hopeless. Sixty years of hopelessness. Time to walk away.
