  1. Boy am I eating a lot of crow on Rakell. I literally need to call myself out on the highest mountain top. I was running my mouth, left and right, because, in hindsight, I was moronic. Rickard: Apologies. DK: Apologies. I was wrong on Rakell, horribly wrong. LETS GO PENS!

  2. Guys who score 20+ goals in the NHL more than one season are usually consistently capable of doing it over and over given the right circumstances.

  3. League average is .897, Jarry.885, Skinner .888, Silovs .891 they aren't drastically off the mark. I think we just aren't used to the elite scoring talent collectively.

  4. They AREN'T playing Silov's everyday! DK, I have no idea what you're going on about? The duo WILL BE Silovs n Skinner! Why not see what Silovs can do B2B. Mirasov WILL BE in WBS! You are wasting oxygen getting worked up about this. It's ride or die unless an ACTUAL injury comes about (swollen eye is minimal)

  5. I’ve seen Murashov swipe the pucks. Let him have a few game. He needs to practice. Playoffs are coming.
I know Silovs has pucks bouncing around the crease. I’m not saying he can’t get better, but Silovs needs to grab the puck.

  6. Two things Rakell has always been a streaky scorer and well, he's just peaking at the right time. Second, if I'd sit somebody, I'd sit Novak. What about putting lizotte in place of Novak . They're both centers who shoot left and lizotte can play with skilled players. Further, it might make sense for the playoffs to mix in some grit on that second line. Novak is too vanilla

  7. Once the Penguins clinch, they should absolutely play Mursy as much as possible. All of the hopes of the start of the season centered around creating a competition for the crease and getting the youthful upcoming a chance to come up. Up to this point its been a back and forth of the beaten and battered. Two of the most fringe starting and unreliable goaltenders weve seen since Jarry left. Just remember… the goalie that lost in the cup finals last year and the year before that has been in and out of our net ever since. If we got all the way there just to lose like the Oilers did, I can tell you who would be standing in our net just the same.

  8. Pretending like Crosby was the one holding Rakell back or like Crosby is playing poorly this year is just wild work. Banksy, my dude, you are the kind of guy who is so confidently wrong it's almost impressive. Not to mention the fact that, even when goals weren't going in the net for Rakell earlier this year, he was still playing great, doing everything else on the ice to help the team. And on Murashov: At this point, I think any team that has a potential superstar but not a bona fide one should be testing out that potential star. The playoffs are long and grueling. Injuries happen. Give your prospect some looks before the playoffs, just in case. Most teams without superstars are working with 1a/1b goalie situations. This isn't just a Pens thing. If the Pens goalies are afraid of a little competition, then they don't have the mentality to make it in the playoffs in the first place.

  9. We can just all agree to disagree… when it comes to the topic of "Murashov". Nothing. I mean nothing comes close and/or can compare to in-game experience as well as observation of the player(s) performance. So with that being said if you're going to let him get some actual ice time it should be done in the remainder of the regular season. I understand that for the Penguins these last 4 games are so important and the points that are available to add to our current total could put us in a position to be a 2 seed. But before that is a factor landing a playoff spot is the actual main goal.

  10. I would like to see a game, or two, with Sid, Chinakov, and Soderblom as the top line, especially when Lizotte comes back.

  11. I can understand giving Silovs the benefit of the doubt. His first NHL experience was a playoff series against Nashville, where he secured the win with a .938 Sv% in 3 games, then against Edmonton, where he got Vancouver to game seven. He comes into the next year, and in his first nine starts, his only starts, goes 2-6-1, .861 Sv% and 3.65 GAA. Vancouver send him down to Abbottsford, where he gets his game together and leads them to a Calder Cup win.
Not sure if Dubas pursued him or did Rutherford a favor trading a prospect that the Pens had given up on, and a 4th, for Arty who Vancouver may have already given up on since they went out and acquired Lankinen to tandem with Demko.
Arty played well in camp and earned the start in the season opener and has been played pretty well for the first few weeks of the season, but once the scoring slowed, so did his wins.
In his last five games, his most recent one is the only one over .870 save% and under 3 goals allowed. Of his 39 starts, only 18 qualify as Quality Starts, with 11 Really Bad Starts. He is -5.7 on Goals Saved Above Average. Almost across the board, he is below average.
Maybe, there's a chance he could find that playoff success from his past, but that's not a basket that I want to put all of my eggs in.

  12. I think Dewar is the odd man out unfortunately. Accairi gets the vet nod I'm assuming and Soderblom stays on the wing
