@Bruins de Boston

  1. Sign him, definitely. 2-3 years deal perfect. Moreover, he seems to be happy in Boston and enjoys the play nad life chemistry with Pav.

  2. I originally thought Arvidsson would be trade bait at the deadline. Arvidsson is a great fit in Boston and he seems to love playing for the Bruins. He’s a Pro and a positive impact on this team.

  3. Ardvisson reminds me of what the Bruins had in Recchi back in the day. A veteran presence that produces and will continue to produce base on his skill and wit.

  4. Arvidsson is a pleasant surprise. I wasn't expecting much out of him but he exceeded what anyone expected. Plus the way he connects with Zacha is a bonus. I'm so happy for Zacha. I've always felt he was under appreciated. Now with Arvidsson and Mittelstadt I think he's realizing his full potential. Yes, try and sign Arvidsson. However I'd be cautious on term, father time is not always kind. 3 years at 4.5 hits a nice sweet spot.

  5. I like Marat lol, every game it seems I’m looking at my dogs telling them “he’s a pitbull too”. 😂. Always in the corner or against the boards fighting for the puck.

  6. I am absolutely thrilled to say HOW WRONG I was.
When the B"s made all those moves, trading away the old, and basically retool/rebuild, I was surprised, and, not a fan.
I can say, WRONG WRONG WRONG.
Mittlestadt, Ardvisson, Zacha, Pasta, Khustidinov and Geeklie are such a good core!
Grinders like Kastelic, Minten, and Kuraly, and man, this lineup looks really good.

Now, to figure out how to develop, and that means great future ahead.
Poitras, Locmelis, Hagens, Merkulov, Lysell, and obviously, LeTourneau!

  7. I agree Arvidsson with Zacha has been impressive both have exceeded my expectations.
2-3 years 5.0-5.5 million is likely cheap with an increasing salary cap.
I would keep him as well.

  8. Boston definitely needs to keep RV everybody's missing the point of how fast he is he offsets the speedy teams like Montreal what you're going to need in the next few years

  9. Ya he won me over with his play an attitude . I still would tried trading him an mittlstad an zacha at deadline if there was good deals to be had maybe Sweeney tried i dont know i imagine he listened to offers. I would definitely be in at 2 year contract 3 scares me this is a contract year an all athletes no matter sport seem to find that extra dollar gear haha hes good in locker room an team chemistry is important. If had my way zacha mittlstad an ardvison would be gone at deadline.
Yes bruins look better than we thought but is that because Florida an Toronto dropped off .because if those 2 teams didbt crash we be fighting for 1st pick in draft great video you an family have awesome week

  10. I agree with the contract length and expected salary. In my eyes, he has earned it. Tho not to break the chemistry, we should also extend Zacha. If I am not mistaken, he is gonna be in the last year of his contract next season, and I would love for him to stay. The question is, who would go with them on the wing? Should we reintroduce the Zacha Pasta pairing with Arvi? Also, what about the rest of the group? Introducing a bunch of kids from AHL and rotating as Sturm does isn't such a bad strategy. You can try out different pairings, and if you rotate I dunno around 6 players, we could secure some further chemistry. Am sure Hagens will take some downtime in AHL before he makes it up. There are a lot of players there I would love to see rotate up to get some experience.

What about the bottom line tho? Do we move off Lindholm? (My guess would be, yeah, sure he is a good defensive piece, but he has stayed far out away from expectations). We signed Geekie and Kastelic. Jeannot has a long contract.. Kuraly goes, I guess. Even though I like that fourth line the way it is. which doesn't leave much room there for new peices. I lake to rotate guys to fill these places. We definitely need to find Pasta some good linemates. Complete Second.(Mittlestadt is gonna likely go offseason). Figure out how to play with third, and we have a good fourth in my view.

    What are your thoughts?

  11. Great post. He seems much more impactful the second half of the season than the first half. What's his injury history? It seems like he might be playing for his contract. Is he gonna sustain this level of drive that we've seen in the last couple of months. If he's looking for 5yr x 6 mill then the answer has to be no. I think he was a healthy scratch last year multiple times. Was he injured. A bad fit? Is he playing for a contract now and wasn't before? These are the things that I'm not sure about.

  12. Absolutely agreed on all points. And even before I heard your assessment, $5 mil, couple of years popped up in my mind. That answers the question whether the Bruins should re-sign him. Absolutely, unless someone cheaper can replace him.
100% right about the chemistry with Zacha, and that they are the perfect complement to each other. Arvidsson is fast and feisty, but a little guy. Zacha loves to slow the game down and is a big guy who can keep the puck. And then comes the secondary scoring. Both of them have a good shot and can score 20+ goals. Zacha might even crack 30 this season, one goal to go.
I'm pretty sure, that if you'd ask both of them, they'd prefer to keep playing together. Players understand when a linemate is a perfect fit and makes their lives easier.
That line consists of three good players, but is even better, than the sum of its parts. That's when you know the line is well crafted. I'm willing to bet, that Sturm is all behind this.
The Bruins are so close when it comes to forwards. Just the 1C, and everything falls in its place. 1R Dman, and a legit 2nd goalie. Doable with the expanding cap, I think, but the time is ticking.

  13. If he really wants to stay on this team, he needs a contract offer based on how he does in the playoffs. Unlike Pasta, Viktor doesn't turn the puck over CONSTANTLY. He protects the puck, he values the puck, and unlike Geekie and Pasta, he never just stands there and waits for the puck to come to him. He is a pest when defending, his stick always seeking the puck. He (and Mittelstadt) have transformed Zacha into a goal scorer. Zacha used to just make assists, hit the posts and miss the net all the time, but once Arvidsson was on a line with him, he's suddenly putting the puck in the net. It's like magic.

  14. I totally agree with you. A line that looked like a tentative 3rd line at the beginning of the season, Zacha, Arvidsson and Middlestadt, has become the most consistent and most dynamic for the Bruins this year. Before I even listened to your broadcast, I had projected the Bruins to sign him for the next 2 years for $5 million per year. Victor Arvidsson has made Pavel Zacha a much better offensive player this year, but he has also transformed Casey Middlestadt into a solid 2-way wing that opposing defenses ignore at their peril. This line needs to stay together for the next several years as the Bruins incorporate younger players into their lineup, e.g. Hagens, LaTourneau, Zellers, etc., to serve as a benchmark for how the game should be played in the Bruins system. Victor Arvidsson should be secured with a new contract before the season is concluded. To let him walk would be idiocy. As a side note I think the Bruins should target a right shot defenseman with their 1st overall draft pick this year.

  15. love him now and totally with you, wanted him gone at the trade deadline at the beginning of the season…. im thinking 4×4 contract

  16. Arvidsson or not, if you don't straighten out that defense which is constantly being caught up ice and get your forwards putting the puck in the net you are toast. You've got two goalies playing fantastic, they can't win the game for you, it's unrealistic. The hunt for a primo defenseman should be priority one. Arvidsson could be the bait that gets one.

  17. Respectfully Court… I don’t think your projection for the contract is realistic unless you add more term. If you look that the recent signings of middle-6 players that are producing at an equivalent or even slightly worse rate, a 5.5×2-3 would be pretty team friendly. Maybe he likes the fact that the Bs are actually utilizing his talents properly and allows for that discount, but looking at it from a pure numbers standpoint, I think if you’re only willing to sign him for 2 more years, he’ll want 6-7 million AAV.

  18. If Sweeney does not get Victor signed by the end of the regular season, we should start a GoFundMe to do it ourselves.

  19. I dont know. Lets go on a cup run. If we go deep try hard to work a deal. If were bounced fast i think we let him walk. Hes not the problem. I could see him making top buck somewhere else. Hes earned a pay raise and some comfort of a multi year deal.

  20. I kinda feel like someone is going to out bid the Bruins. If he stays Im afraid it will be a big overpay. Particularly on term.
