La meilleure chose serait une enseigne et un échange. Mais si nous ne pouvons pas y parvenir, je serais prêt à donner à Robertson une offre de 14,5 à 15 millions de dollars et à payer la compensation RFA probable de 4 choix de première ronde (ce qui n’affecterait pas notre repêchage de 2026 puisque l’agence libre commence après le repêchage). Nous avons un noyau fort qui sera plutôt jeune, à l’exception d’Ovi. Robertson vient d’avoir 27 ans cet été, il est dans la fleur de l’âge et possède exactement les compétences qui nous manquent. Nous avons 3 très bonnes recrues, un très bon espoir prêt maintenant (Protas) et quelques gars du pipeline qui pourraient se présenter (par exemple Lakovic, Cristall et Parascak). Nous aurions également les deux premiers joueurs de 2026 en préparation. C’est suffisamment de profondeur de perspective pour prendre le pari de payer le prix élevé de 4 premiers joueurs et peut-être un peu trop cher. De plus, nous avons bien réussi avec quelques non-premiers joueurs à Hutson et Protas, sans parler de la reprise de Sourdif. Je ne vois pas d’autre voie vers la Coupe si nous ne prenons pas de gros risques.

Respectfully, does anyone *really* think Dallas isn’t going to find a way to make this work? They’re just gonna shrug it off and accept a trade instead of locking in a franchise superstar?
There’s no way he’s leaving Dallas.
The theoretical four firsts hurts. The unfortunate reality of our prospect pool is that we are thin at D. Our D corp needs a true #1 D man and unfortunately you usually have to draft one of those unless you get extremely lucky in FA. Any trade for an elite D man would involve some of our young guys, which we like very much.
No question Robertson would elevate the squad offensively and free others up to become more offensively involved. I just don’t think the price helps us from the team construction standpoint. I also think it would be very difficult to convince him to come here when other teams who are closer to cup contention would also be throwing the kitchen sink at him. He would have no real reason to come here in that scenario.

Caps need to be in on Brady Tkachuk. Would love to add him to the top-6 and make this team even harder to play against going forward.

Can anyone explain how Robertson had an ELC, an RFA contract, and is now entering another RFA year, but it’s only one season? How does he get two RFA contracts?
I’m all in for Robertson but not for 4 firsts. I doubt Dallas lets him go but the Caps should be calling no matter what.
I wouldn’t move Lakovic but any combination of McMichael/Parascak/Cristall/Lapierre/Miro/Gastrin would all be available. Our picks this year and next.
Not all together but some combination of quantity for quality.
And to be honest, I’m not sure guys like Strome and Sandin are off the table either. Both are kinda getting squeezed out and given their contracts they could be valuable pieces in a trade.
I would have no problem with Robertson at $16m on a long term deal. What else are you going to do with the money? Might as well spend it on an extremely talented need.
