  1. Oof… this episode was uncomfortable and hard to watch. The arguing over goaltending is just so weird. I’m not sure the team would be where they are right now if management or the coaching staff had the same level of confidence in the goaltending as you do, Dejan. It’s been wildly inconsistent, but both guys have stepped up in big moments when it mattered.

I think you can pretty much ball up and throw out GAA for most of these games. Both have given up goals they’d obviously want back and probably should have saved, but they’ve also made the timely saves. I don’t know. People need to take a chill pill on this topic.

I’m not really pressed about whether Murashov gets a start down the stretch or not, to be honest. I’m more interested in whether the AHL guys can actually make a real push this year.

  2. It’s crazy to me that murashov is the only thing this dude can talk about right now. Who cares. The team’s been great I’m just excited to finally see us in the playoffs. These goalies have gotten us this far. LGP

  3. I’m as excited about murashov as anyone, and I’d love for him to get a look just in case disaster strikes and one of our goalies get injured in the playoffs, but the idea of intentionally inserting him into the mix, including into the playoffs, is simple risk/reward.

Risk: he’s not ready, you sink the season on his shoulders when you could’ve gone with the more experienced guys, now his psyche is a threat to his career

Reward: he plays good and you get a marginally better sv % and slightly lower GAA.

Reality is these goalies are league average or a tiny tiny hair below. League average goalie numbers are in the toilet because scoring is up so these goalies look much worse than they actually are league wide. It’s just the reality.

  4. For some reason I thought Murashov was younger. Knowing that he’s already 22 years old makes me feel less positive about him.

  5. If murashev needs to play fine. But I don't see any benefits to putting him in any of these games to just see what might happen. You could rattle the other goalies or the team entirely.

  6. Instead of complaining about the goaltending let's complain about the constant turnovers that put the goalies in bad spots consistently

  7. Since there's no clear satatistcal advantage between the goalies then dont you just default to "if ya make it, you take it."?

  8. Remember when Boston went with a goalie rotation (Swayman and Ullmark) and then they didn't for the playoffs. How did that go? And I can guarantee that they both had quite the year in the regular season, especially that glorious stat you like so much SAVE %. The rotation isn't done pretty much ever, automatically means it shouldn't be done? #TeamTaylor

  9. I'm sorry, but if Murashov's numbers were that bad when he was called up, why does Dejan think he'll suddenly turn it around and get enough experience in the next few games before the playoffs? I'm not saying don't give him a few starts, but secure the bag first.

  10. man DK. trashing the goalies eh? Skinner and Silovs have a stronger body of work than Murashev, and have been playing regular NHL minutes, against the teams they will see in the first 2 rounds.
A big issue with the goals against is brutal turnovers in the D zone, leading to grade A chances against.

  11. 8:51 MURASHOV needs to get into 1 of these 4 final games coming up. He's ready now! Why is Taylor so against giving this kid his chance. The same thing was said back when Fleury and Matt Murray or a tandem. If I'm not mistaken Matt Murray won a Stanley Cup .

  12. Silovs got the season opener start because he'd had a better camp showing than Jarry. Heck, Murashov and Blomqvist had better camps than Jarry. Jarry really didn't hit his stride until the end of October when Silovs was exposed for his weakness in shootouts.

  13. They'll probably give Murashov a start if they clinch early to give the other goalies a rest. Plus if there's an injury he would at least have played.

  14. Goals against and save percentage are fine indicators to look at, but like tbh how many times have we had a blowout game and the pens dominate, and the game is pretty much over and our goalies let in a goal or two, this ruins their save percentage and what not

While our goalies are not perfect, I think you are cutting them a bit short. Both skinner and silovs have played great and made the timely save, and that’s all we ask for. In previous years, pens would dominate possession and the other team would just go down and score on us. I don’t personally think our goaltending is attrocious as you think DK, but I respect your opinion!

  15. DK wants Silovs out of town (he just doesn't say it out loud). The way he talks about the both goalies especially Silovs is just wrong. Our goaltending is also the reason we managed to stay up float in the mid-season when we had a slump. Be fair not just firm please DK. You want SM in net full time – I get it but stop dissing Arty or Stu all the time. Arty also have WON significant (for his age and standards) trophies where he was MVP….
