Out of curiosity, what would have happened if the NJD player had successfully deflected it away with a high stick?
I am pretty sure the rule is like any other high stick. So delayed call followed by whistle if NJ touches it next. Most likely results being either faceoff in the NJ zone or PHI goal if we touch it first.
But IMHO, they should have a rule like baseball’s fan interference rule where the ref can award a goal if he determines it would have gone in (or had a substantial chance of going in). Or they need to take the faceoff with no goalie. lol
