Hes so legitimately ass and so legitimately great its insane. Hes like this era of the oilers distilled into a single player.

  2. CzechMate2121

So on this play. Two forwards completely abandon position, the d-man doesn’t even try to catch up, and the goalie lets in a soft AF goal. Yep this is Edmonton encapsulated lol.

  3. You just can’t give the Norris to someone  who legit doesn’t even try to play D sometimes.

  4. Dolinarius

The funny thing with the Jarry/Skinner swap is, that both goalie’s stats got worse 😀

  5. brechbillc1

This is just really poor play on Bouchard’s part. He had plenty of time and plenty of speed to gap up on the forward here and prevent a shot from getting off. Especially since it’s clear as day this is a one on one scenario. That’s a play that gets rewinded a hundred times in film review the next day.

And this is why they hounded Skinner out of town, because ‘he was the problem’

What a massive LOL of a team

  7. Worlds_Worst_Angler

Looks like 2/3 of the guys on my beer league teams.

Bouchard should be a forward, not a defence man. He has a wicked shot and he needs to have more opportunities to shoot.

He sucks at defence and gives the puck away too much in his own end or at the blue line when he i s the last man back.

  9. McMetal770

If Bouchard was only bad at playing defense, it wouldn’t really be a problem. Just get him a good stay-at-home D partner and then his offensive output outweighs the negatives. The problem is, he just straight up *doesn’t try*, and when you spend as much time on the ice as he does, that becomes a liability no matter how many points he gets on the power play.

  10. Guys, it’s the goaltending that’s the issue… let’s stay focused, okay?

  11. imaybeacatIRl

This happens wwaaaayyyyy too often for someone people try to argue onto team Canada and the Norris discussion.

  12. MasterCommunity1192

My buddies all make this same play in men’s league

  13. Guys use your head there is a second guy, that’s what he’s looking at.

  14. I understand the sentiment – he could have done more. He did however keep Schmaltz from driving to the middle by occupying that ice, which led to a lower danger shot for Jarry to not save.

If we’re going to blame Bouchard, we have to blame Jarry too because him not coming up with a save there was more criminal than Bouchard’s low-effort back check.

Looks like he was protecting against the pass to the trailer and giving the goalie the shot, which can’t go in from there. If he goes hard to the shooter, easy pass to the open trailer to go solo against the goalie. Downvote away, you non-playing hosers!

Mcdavid also kinds skates in the pucks general direction and then puts his stick on the wrong side to do anything to compete for that puck or block the pass and does a fly by

  17. I know people are on about the Oilers but I honestly doubt they can will their way back to the finals. Might have good offence but it doesn’t help their goaltending or defence. Safe issues they had last year and the year before but they’ve made it actually worse.

  18. I watched 3rd pair Dmen making less than 3M in eliminated teams play better defensively.

  19. Happy-Association754

Have any of you played hockey at any decent level? This is entirely on jarry. Bouchard gets back, doesn’t allow the middle of the ice, forces a shot from the outside angle, literally everything a goalie wants. At a certain point you need to make a save. As a goalie myself, I am entering the locker room at period taking full blame on that goal.

  20. tortured_fanclub

Maybe he was expecting the goalie yo make a save, loo

  21. No-Disaster-9872

I miss the old days when the coach would tear them to shreds for lack of effort and then bench them, those days are gone

  22. Square-Ad-6520

How can so many of you not see that he clearly hesitated to go all in at the puck carrier because he wasn’t sure if there was another forward coming down the ice that would be left wide open for a pass.
You honestly think that he just straight up didnt care?

  23. thisisananalusername

Yes, this is the guy who should get the Norris, right? Lmao, he can score 150pts and still not win the Norris.

  24. “Okay im within 3 feet of him, so my force field will stop his shot now, we’re all good no need to hustle”

  25. MotherAd1865

Wait, isn’t this the person that deserves the Norris trophy? /s
