These arent like the NFL at all though, you have to have completely random crap like Dallas in the NFC East with Philly, NY, and Washington.

As a Devils fan, I’d miss playing the Flyers over the Bruins tbh. Cool idea though.

  3. Capital_Champion_768

Nice but I rename West Coast to Southwest and Pacific to Northwest

  4. I dont hate it… but dallas is like 500 miles from real mountains in any direction (the Palo pintos dont count as real mountains) so I vote for a name change.

  5. Calling__Elvis

The players (and their families) would love this!

I do like this. But I’d also like to see the conferences changed to AFC and NFC like conferences instead of East and West. If we’re going to change things up, let’s get really wild.

  7. I don’t think Dallas and Nashville belong in Mountain. Can we get Seattle, Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver?

  8. Poor Nashville; also just the filler team tossed into whatever division needs a team.

    I’d rename « turnpike » to « rust belt »

    Michigan doesn’t do « turnpikes »

Not far off what we had in the 1970s-80s (pre-expansion). Give them names like Norris and Smythe and I’m in!

  11. Nashville would be better off with STL, CHI, and MIN or CBJ

  12. Not really a fan of Detroit’s division, but I’m not sure what else you could do. The other 3 in the conference all look pretty reasonable, so you’re kind of left with the « Turnpike » (dear god, change that division’s name) teams as misfit toys.

Maybe you could swap Ottawa and Detroit, but that’s probably a big hit to Ottawa to not be in the same division as the other eastern Canadian teams.

Im not quite getting Nashville’s placement in Mountains. Literally every single heartland division team is further west and closer to the Rocky Mountains than Nashville. Like, if you wanted to slot them there over 1 geographically closer team for rivalry purposes, maybe. But all 4 teams being closer? That schedule and travel would be unfair.

  14. Love the format, and creative on the names, so, nice work.

People here will hem and haw over who slots where, like I’m about to. Sorry, just have to do it.

You have to keep Boston, Montreal, and Toronto together. There’s just too much hate to separate. I would guess Buffalo slots in there with them… Ottawa, sorry… I guess?

Anyone outside of Ottawa actually ever think of Ottawa?

  15. So landlocked Edmonton and Calgary are in the Pacific? Maybe rename it the Northwest? But I like the concept. The division rivalries would be insane again.

  16. Why would Montreal be in the « Niagara » division?

  17. Gotta find a way to put Montreal and Boston in the same division…

  18. I like these. I think they might shift a little if they ever tried something like it. Not having some key rivalries is a hard sell. No devils flyers, no bruins habs. I’m sure there’s more. As we move away from Sid and Ovi being the focal point of the league maybe we can finally stop shoehorning pens/caps into the same division.

  19. In the Western Conference, you simply took the 2 existing divisions and split them in half. For the East, you took geography into account.

I have always found it weird that Detroit is in the « Atlantic » division when they are much further away from the Atlantic Ocean than Carolina or the NYC area teams. The NYC/NJ teams should be in the same division as Boston and Buffalo instead of Detroit and the 2 Florida teams.

  20. Id switch it like this

Phi goes subway – closer to nyc

Bos goes Niagara – rivalry with leafs and habs

Buf goes turnpike – south of lake erie

  21. gorillaphi

I like it but I feel like it works for the NFL cause they only have 17 games

  22. We had something similar many moons ago. Back in the old divisional system. It made the playoffs a lot weirder, that’s for sure!

  23. kidcanada0

That’s pretty cool. As always, Washington doesn’t fit anywhere

  24. Lifes_good_for_me

Probably one of the better set ups I’ve seen

  25. jobenattor0412

Give me a division with Minnesota, Chicago and I guess either Winnipeg or Toronto.

  26. 19TimGreyCupChamps

Boston away from both Montreal and Toronto is a war crime

  27. Oh dang, that’s pretty good. My only gripe would be to change West Coast to Desert and that you cannot split the bruins and Habs up

  28. BlueRFR3100

    Sucks to be Nashville.

But I would swap Winnipeg and Dallas

  29. silky_mane

Nashville and Dallas would be surprised to find themselves in the Mountain Division

  30. Nashville and Utah are too far away to be in the same division, trade them the blues.
