Trade kane, rasmusen, compher, chiarot, raymond, perron. Those guys needs to go first.
The Larkin convo is idiotic. Get over it. Kane, Compher, Copp, Ras need to go. I'd rather lose with our prospects.
Yzerman let rasmuseen play when he has 1 goal his last 30 games. Copp has one goal his last 21 games .compher 2 goals his last 30 games. Yet we got young prospects that were ready…. thats the very reason we will miss playoffs and cam talbot being the worst back up goalie to ever live
If they aren't going to be aggressive at acquiring 1 really good player (i.e. Robertson/McDavid) or a couple of good players (i.e. Thomas/Kempe) then they should consider trading Larks and any other player they can swing a deal for picks with.
Larkin is not the issue. You got 14 milion bucks between copp compher and rasmusen and they have only 25 goals total between all 3 of THEM!!!!!!!!!14 points for rasmuseen this year…. hes always been brutal. We let john leonard rot in the minors over rasmuseen. Its not even real
Larkin is a winning hockey player Costa? Let me check how many playoff appearances he has………………….im still looking………….give me some time…………………….
Trading Raymond is maybe the worst idea I've heard of. Last year he was the first Red wing since 2011 to finnish a season with 80 points. Debrincat currently has 82, a career high at age 28. Larkin's career high was 79 points at age 26. Raymond was 23 and is just entering his prime.
This season he's tied with Debrincat in 5-on-5 goals and 2nd in points playing mostly with Larkin who has had a down year in terms of 5-on-5 production. I can guarantee that if he had a Debrincat and the Larkin we're used to see on his line he'd be closer to 90 points by now.
If anything, Steve should do everything in his power to complement Raymond's playmaking ability. Find a LW who plays with speed and grit and can score 20-25 goals.
Go get Jack Hughes and Luke Hughes. They could package Raymond, ASP, Augustine or Cossa and a draft pick.
The Kat should be Captain
Why can't they bring in the leader and not adjust the C? If you bring in tough, culture building players they will lift everyone even if they aren't a captain. Those guys will speak up in the locker-room regardless. I look at a Demarcus Ware for the Broncos. That was Manning's team and Von Miller was their best defender, but Ware came in and galvanized that locker room.
I dont see how trading the core makes term better, thats what teams do when they decide to rebuild, you need to add to what we have , i think you need to package picks with prospects for high end talent if they want to win mow
LARKIN IS NOT A NUMBER ONE CENTER ON ANY OTHER TEAM
If wings move Steve, please dont bring in loser Draper as GM. Im tired of this good ol boys club, where every ex-wing gets a cushy job.
So, basically, we "rebuild" after rebuilding for the last 8 years? And, if we keep the Yzerplan, we can add another 8 years? Again, we see most of the players we traded over the last 4 years ARE PLAYING in the playoffs. Some were slugs, but the better players are off to the big games. The way Yzerman is trading, we'll end up with more Rasmussens and Tarasenkos. It's funny how we trade away our meat potato scorers, for a failed plan, and then sit back and go, "Hey, what happened?"
trades alone won't accomplish a rebuild. They have to tear it up, because the talent is not good enough. Bring in new GM, new scouts and new youth. By the time they are good again, Larkin's contract will expire. He is soft anyways, ask him to waive no trade clause. Trade him, get younger and suck for 2 years.
The question is… where is the heart? And not some cliché saying to dismiss their lack of playing. Look at 1998 Stanley Cup. Konstantinov was the heart they fought for. Look at 2002, getting rented legends their first Cup was the heart. 2008, getting the new guys the Cup, was the heart. Larkin at Olympics, Gaudreau was the heart. Detroit has no heart, no reason to play well, no motivation to push themselves.
I think the C should go to DeBrincat or Seider the best offensive player or the best defensive player.
I'd fire Yzerman before I'd trade Larkin
Blaming or over blaming Larkin for anything is a bit ridiculous. The truth is this team is not deep enough, talented enough nor tough enough – top to bottom (except Mo). They need to burn it down and go through a full rebuild again…. I hate that this is my team I think Im giving up on sports
YUP !!
No to trading Larkin, but definitely bring out the wheelbarrow of cash to bring on a 1st line center.
Listen, we have Andrew Copp as a 2nd line center who wears an A…. I mean… My God.
Pull the C from Larkin first day off season and watch how fast he drop his no trade. Dude is the reason they start slow. Heales excuses and cris. Didn't anyone watch his past three interviews? That's not leadership! It's the whine of a spoiled child who's had everything given to him. Sure he's a local boy but who gives a fuck if he spends his days crying.
Marner was a sign,& trade albeit forced to Vegas. But Toronto did get Nick Roy for him which turned into a 1st rounder when my AVS traded for Roy. But ya it still was pennies on $ value.
Dylan does not appear to be an effective leader. He's a great role player, ex. Four Nations and Olympics. Cut him loose.
Rasmussen need to get bought out or something…. i could care less about anyone else… that dude is straight GARBAGE. 6'6 and plays like a 5'8 player.
Trade for who? Not one players wants to come to Detroit anymore.
No need to trade Larkin, but this team needs a legit number 1 center. Larkin is a great 2 and a good captain. Let's get a high end number 1.
Larkin is not a leader. But he is a second line center on a championship team.
Honestly! Larks would go if Steve asked him to. Idiots don't reply.
If Larks should go! He's a 2nd line 50 goal player. Hands down. He's carried Steve's team long enough.
Idiots. Larks given room and the lack of attention bs. 50 goals absent thought.
God! I'm from Detroit. My great grandfather is Jo Compo. I am Detroit. Larks is a pillar. Fools
Idiots
Listen Larkin isn't the problem I'm not the hugest Larkin fan okay I never was I grew up in the yzerman days there's another topic for another day, it's not his fault
Why are we even talking about Larkin look what you just said about one leg last night I never was a Larkin fan but he not the problem he cannot make the other players it's the roster he has been a good captain scapegoating is getting old in sports Sports
