  1. I want them to lose vs the Flyers. I want them mathematically eliminated so there is a slight chance that prospects will play at the lighting game. I will be at that game and that is the only saving grace i see at this point for that game.

  2. I really don’t see what direction this team can move in going forward. I don’t think any of our rookies/prospects, at least currently are game breakers. There’s no Celebrini or Bedard or Mackenna here. That kind of top end talent doesn’t just spawn in out of nowhere, and no one is willing to trade those assets away.

Not having a 2026 first rounder feels like salt in the wound at this point. And that’s sad to say considering a team that’s pushing for playoffs and ultimately—by extension—a cup, shouldn’t be relying on young talent to come in and save them. Yes, it feels like we’re only one high impact center or defenseman away from being potentially good talent-wise, but what’s happened to the culture? I’m skeptical that a high caliber player could even make an impact when coming into a locker room that seems to be eternally depressed, unmotivated, and beaten down.

We won’t win a cup within the time Larkin is captain, and making the playoffs in that time might even be tough, which is sad to admit. The reality though is the Atlantic is currently stacked with some relentless competition, and those teams have a sense of drive that we seem to be missing. What’s the path forward, re-tool or blow it up and start over? Pray that the lottery is kinder to us this time around? Will Seider and Raymond even be relevant by that point? Surely we can’t tank with them on the roster, so do we part ways or stay eternally in the middle?

Even the 80’s “dead wings” didn’t miss the playoffs so many times in a row. Really hard not to be a doomer right now but that’s truly how it feels. I didn’t become a diehard red wings/hockey fan until 2015 when they were on the decline, so I don’t have those memories of this organization being the unstoppable juggernaut it once was. It’s hard to visualize the winged wheel hoisting that cup once again before my toddlers have grown up into teens, or even adults. The trajectory to the cup with this current roster only exists when if you perform some extreme mental gymnastics.

I tend to be a bit of a pessimist in general, (maybe as a defense mechanism for my psyche?) but in this moment I truly don’t feel hyperbolic at all. Unless this team suddenly decides to wake up, get significantly faster, gain some mental resiliency, and recruit some true grinders and brutes to physically dominate other teams (the exact opposite of how our roster is currently constructed) this rebuild is just not meant to be.

  3. Tarasenko’s shooting % this year is double of last years. Last years was basically his career low. Players come here and they slide. Players leave here and they thrive. That’s a massive problem that needs to be solved. There has been a couple guys that did manage to do well and some others that have been mid.

  4. I'll write this again. If Draisaitl and Larkin agree, they switch teams, Wings give up Trey or Cossa, and a center prospect, Oilers eat 2million on Leon's contract, and Oilers save 4 million in cap space. Leon has another german national to hang with. 😉

  5. Don’t have the heart to sit and listen to how sorry we are but I’m still going to leave a like and comment and give you the view because i love you guys

  6. The so called Yzerman is just drafting at this point, what happens every year team is banged up when March rolls around and there was no help you can’t sit on your hands until TD each time if we made moves after new year which we should have we would be 10pts plus better off right now.

  7. It's been the exact same thing for a decade. Worse rosters have made the playoffs, on a yearly basis.. The issue with Detroit is that they're power play merchants. 97% of their goals since 2015 have come on the PP, which makes it very unsustainable when refs stop throwing as many flags after the all star break. Lines up exactly when they suddenly fall off a cliff in March. Fix the 5 on 5 with gritty players instead of glass cannon vets like Larkin, Kane, and Cat who produce nothing at even strength, and they'll be back in the hunt.

  8. For the Detroit Red Wings, the playoffs are not a goal, it’s a rumor the organization started 10 years ago. The Red Wings have become the Seinfeld of hockey – a show on ice about nothing. Identity? Nothing. Desire? Nothing. Talent? Nothing. Hockey Mentality? Nothing. Playoff Presence? NOTHING!

  9. Don't give up guys. The Buffalo Sabres of all teams are looking great this year, anything is possible in hockey.

  10. The forward group needs a complete overhaul BUT THEY CANT ras compher copp apple all under contract. We cant get rid of this garbage

  11. I dont wanna hear any feel good stories, trophies, griffins bs, I don't wanna hear about feel good moments or brothers about the wings UNTIL THEY MAKE THE FKIN PLAYERS, NONE OF IT MATTERS DONT CARE, JUST MAKE THE PLAYOFFS

  12. I hope when Yzerman moves into the president only role that the majority of scouting and coaching staffs are replaced.

Chris Yzerman and Kris Draper are the two that need to go the most.

  13. I think the biggest problem this current roster faces is that with a weak free agency and no first round pick, it will be difficult to trade to make this roster better. Tear it down.

  14. All eyes are on management and the moves they do or don't make during the off season. If Yzerman is truly the right GM right now he will be doing his damndest to be productive for next season to add scoring depth.

  15. I don’t know how to be positive about any of this. Our prospects are best case scenario second line guys, Raymond and Seider are going to be halfway to 30 and our pro scouting staff is the worst in the league. What direction do you even go? I’m leaning towards a second rebuild but I don’t have faith they will even stick with it. Yzerman never fully committed to the rebuild. To me the year Copp and Co were signed in free agency was the start of this mess. Yzerman had no business doing that in a generational (potentially) draft year. It’s year 7 and I’m still thinking to myself what is the plan here
