  1. Dubas did hit on everything and some credit is to be given (even from a critic of his). However, I'm with you DK, in any other year, the decisions Dubas made would have had this team not be this good. All the names of new guys he brought in have had career years. That is as much skill as it is luck, and maybe more luck for Dubas.

Muse is the one who coached, created a system, and motivated these players TO HAVE their career years. He implemented som Florida Panthers style forecheck, he worked his system to his players he had and put them in positions to win. I think Dubas likely will get an award, and he will have a long career in the NHL, but I've been thoroughly impressed by Muse and the coaching staff. I didn't know what to expect. If Dubas is to be credit for any move, I don't think it is for the players or how he constructed the team, As I said any other year they would have had one of the worst roster construction, instead we are talking about how well it all worked out, and that is because the best move Dubas made was Muse.

  2. Chicken and the egg DK, one doesn't happen without the other and the players as well. This team has everything it needs to succeed imo, reg season does not matter in playoffs everyone starts off at 0. The boys have one with every style of play, PLUS NO SHOOTOUTS OR 3 VS 3 OT which was the biggest problem this year. Lets first make the playoffs, GO PENS!!!!

  3. Have to also keep in mind, as much credit as we have to give Muse, Dubas also conducted such an intensive coaching search that Dubas is the ine who dug up Muse also. We heard tons and tons of names as possible coaches, but wasnt until near the end of the process that Muse's name came out. Everyone thought the one Capitals assistant was "the choice".

  4. Dubas has done a better job fixing Hextalls mess than anyone could have reasonably expected.

I still don't think the moves this year match what Rutherford did between Feb 2015 and Feb 2016.

  5. Both deserve all the accolades. This team was “supposed to be” in McKenna contention.
Not only the additions by Dubas, but the non-subtractions. Not trading away Karlsson, Rakell or Rust has been obviously huge.

  6. Dan, you're just talking to hear yourself talk now. Your answer to the question was freaking gibberish. But at least you get yet another shot at Letang so you're happy. I'm out.

  7. Hey DK, you have to give Dubas a lot of credit, his gambles for the most part have hit, but he's had some stinkers too. I was a little disappointed with them sitting on the wallet at the deadline with a chance to shore up the defense, or to pick up a legit scorer, and veteran goalie? What Dubas has done reminds me of Vegas when they picked up all the misfits and the players teams snubbed, it worked out for them and it is here too, find players that feel disrespected and have a chip on their shoulder and give them opportunity. I look at what Muse has done with much of the same talent Sullivan couldn't get it done with. Let's not forget Pittsburgh was in this situation a few years ago and lost to Chicago and Columbus, or lost a series to Montreal in the bubble. The power play was not stellar under Sullivan and this year it's great. Look at last season when the whole line one was -30, Muse has got the guys playing the way Sully preached, so the new voice, maybe not being a hot head, the message is be heard and applied to the game. Look at the return of Karlsson, It sure looks like he loves playing for Muse, you can say the same about Malkin. This team is always smiling, they all seem motivated and having fun. He's willing to move guys around the line up, Sully wouldn't. We are seeing a coach put trust into young guys and puts them in huge roles. All four lines are scoring and contributing. Sully missed the last three years of playoffs, four if you count this year and this team was deemed to be in full rebuild mode and here they are, making the playoffs. Give Muse his dues because the league hasn't, the refs haven't………….he won't win the coach of the year, but damn it, he deserves it!

  8. Kyle Dumas is a lock for GM of the year. Dan Muse has more competition, but I hope both win as this is a very special season with results far beyond expectations!

  9. Dubas asset management has been phenomenal. Muse has dealt with multiple top 6 injuries, key depth injuries, and kept the team afloat and thriving. That work cannot be understated

  10. At this time of the year, there is only one trophy I want.
Q: Not that this will matter during the playoffs, but has Letang's play been negatively affected by Karlson's presence, or is it only health?

  11. Think about it 92 we had a first year coach, 08 bylsma first year and 16 Sullivan first year can muse add his name to that list

  12. Where's all the Boko Imama talk? Remember when he was going to be the savior this season? People talking about him like he can actually play hockey. LOL

  13. Man o’ man I betcha Toronto Maple Leafs fans as pissin their pants over losing that Dubas guy! Anyone know if that’s the case up there?
