Top 3 pick, hopefully someone who can help Bedard and Frondell. My biggest hope is Kyle trades one of our 8,000 draft picks for someone good.
ColonelBourbon
This off-season really is the turning point for the rebuild. Steps towards winning need to happen, another season of hoping the kids grow isn’t gonna cut it. Bedard will be moving into year 4 of losing, that’s got to weigh on him.
EasyPeasyLSDme
My wants n needs:
1. Cut Burakovsky, we need the roster space for our young players
2. Sing a bruiser, enforcer whatever you call it. If you saw last nights game you would know Deslaurier would beat our boys 1v5, need someone to step up against tougher teams
3. Win the lottery, lose the lottery, don’t matter. Stenberg. Stenberg Stenberg Stenberg.
4. Sign Bedsy to as long of a deal as possible. Dream would be 8×13
5. Don’t panic. The top 3 teams in the division ain’t going nowhere for the next 2 years, we will be competing for a wild card. As long as we are in the fight I will be happy. If we end up bottom 5 again, Blashill would be the man to blame
TrickyIron8192
Most ideal? First overall pick and a big time forward acquisition to go with a good veteran d man signing, plus no hang up in getting Kantserov over here.
Then_Discussion8809
We trade for Knies and take on Morgan Reilly as well. We got the $ and the draft capital to make it happen.
torque_penderloin
Pick traded for a top 6, or ideally top 3 winger who can be here long term.
Cawnt
Bring back Seth Jones and Corey Perry
Swing-Too-Hard
I mean, we can’t do much because you’re gonna have too many prospects go pro next year. Moore will be back, Kantserov will hopefully come over, and we’ll most likely have another top 4 pick to add. We also have a bunch of prospects who may crack the roster.
We have 7 defensemen who need to be in the NHL: Crevier, Vlasic, Arty, Kaiser, Rinzel, Kev, and Del Mastro.
We’ll have the following forwards/centers: Bedard, Nazar, Frondell, Lardis, Donato, Bert, Turbo, Greene, Boisvert and Slags. Boisvert is the only guy who probably starts in Rockford with the rest being on the opening day roster.
They need to decide if they’re gonna resign Mikheyev and this FA class is weak. Whereas next year’s class looks loaded. So we’re probably going to commit to another year with the same roster and hope the young guys take another step. My guess is they will go all in next offseason on a top tier FA. Especially if a certain guy isn’t happy in Edmonton.
1793France
We desperately need a big, mean, intimidating power forward that can play in the top 6. These kids deserve some protection. KD has the assets he needs to spend them, pay the price.
Yes, I know that a legitimate power forward is as hard to find as a RD and will cost but we have so many assets, they all can’t play on the team.
lakepost3
Stenberg or McKenna. Trade for Knies. Kantserov comes over. D-men progress. Buyout the tank commander burky
soxfan10
They’re primed to get a top 4 spot in the draft. But hopefully they can stay at 2 and draft either McKenna or Stenburg (def spelled wrong).
Assuming Florida stays in the top 10, the hawks use their firsts next season to make a big trade for Knies. Toronto should be looking at a rebuild and considering they don’t have much draft capital, I think they’ll be entertaining offers. I can’t begin to imagine what a comparable trade will be, but hopefully something like that comes around.
Considering free agency is Alex Tuch and that’s about it, I don’t think they’ll have any splash signings. They sign Bedard to an 8 year $100 million contract (or higher) as well. They might make a couple depth signings at defense, but it’s pretty set in stone who the everyday guys will be, barring trades.
I’m sure they’re gonna have more signings just based on the salary cap, but that would be a good start.
marmot1101
Boring. Both because there won’t be Blackhawks hockey to watch, and I don’t think there will be big moves. If Mikhyev doesn’t sign maybe. There’s a bunch of kids looking to push into the lineup. I imagine if they get past camp and things don’t look good, or a couple weeks into the season, then therell be more trades
I’m sure we’re gonna be in on Robo talks, but I don’t see KFC getting too aggressive with letting go of prospects and I don’t know if Dallas would want picks. Maybe. Hopefully.
ThrillRam
Part of the off season depends on the draft and who we get and if they are taking the jump right away. We don’t need defense. I think our young d need to play together and go through growing pains together. As for forwards burakovsky needs to go. I don’t think our team is the right fit for his play style. I think it still needs to have some vets but again let the young guys lead. Maybe make a trade for a project player who hasn’t had the best season and needs a fresh start just to add someone. Söderblom needs to go. I think a new start would be good for him. He hasn’t been consistent as a goalie. I think trade him for draft picks or prospects and bring up a goalie from our system to get some starts in next season. Next season is really a let’s see what all our draft pick players can do.
candidateID_44
Buy out Burakovsky.
Sign Bedard to whatever he wants.
Draft McKenna / Stenberg our pick. If they are gone, use that pick in package for a game-changing forward.
mlowe2827
FA sucks and I could see us taking a run at a few RFAs if we can. Maybe a few teams decide to rebuild (Rangers, Leafs, etc.) and sell off a few of their players, so I’d want to see involvement in that if possible. Takes two to tango though.
But a good offseason to me looks likes:
– Bedard 8yr/$12-$13mil contract signed
– FL pick becomes #11 and we get it
– We draft Stenberg
– trade #11 + a 2nd for Smits at like 7-8
– restock young D and BPA with rest of our picks
– resign Mhikeyev. I don’t think it’ll happen unless we can move Turbo or Donato but 🤞🏻
– Kaiser & Crevier extensions
– if we fall out of top 2, I’d want to trade for a top 6 player (Knies, Byfield, B. Tkachuk, Robbo, Dorofeyev). Unless we can draft Stenberg. Then we role with Stenberg, Bedard, Frondell, Nazar, Lardis, Kantserov.
– offensive group is a bit crowded with guys like Turbo, Burkey, Bertuzzi, Donato, Mangiapani. I think Burkey will get bought out. Bert and Mangiapani are prolly 28 deadline trade bait (unless we are challenging) and Donato probably sticks until 29 trade deadline. But I think Turbo + could be a good trade option for an RFA candidate.
CousinCleetus24
Going to be a number of teams involved but Jason Robertson would be an incredible boost for this forward group That’s the one guy I really hope KD gets aggressive on.
Healthy-Table-219
Need to add some younger veteran presence a defensive d man. A tough physical forward. Earlier this season I was thinking Bobby McMann and Nick Robertson would look good in Chicago cheap contracts and would benefit with more ice time and they like to bang and crash digging up loose picks and Toronto is starving for draft pick’s. But then MC Mann went to Seattle. I also like Mason Marchment.

Orders of business, in my opinion:
1. Buyout Burakovsky – could potentially use him as a veteran next year because he did show flashes early, but really just need the space at this point.
2. Sign Bedard and Kantserov – Price really doesn’t matter for Bedard.
3. Get an established veteran forward with size: Tuch, Robertson or Knies. These are the only forwards I see that might be able to be acquired and move the needle. Robertson is the dream scenario here.
4. Sign a veteran with some jam, preferably a defenseman – With Fliggy, Dickinson, Murphy and even Dach gone, we need some jam. I also don’t think it’s fair to roll out this same defense core we have with Vlasic being the oldest. Go get a guy like Gudas, Lauzon, or Oleksiak. Or if they could score a talented culture guy like Carlson, that’d be big too.
5. Get a top 2 pick – McKenna or Stenberg are difference makers. I’d be okay trading picks 3 or 4 for someone like Robertson.
juliuspepperwoodchi
We get McDavid and Oettinger for a song and half a deep dish pizza.
SwoleChinchilla
Ideal offseason is a top-2 pick; a big summer for Levshunov, Rinzel and Korchinski; sign Kantserov. I know everyone is clamouring for a trade but I don’t see that as very likely. No one is pressed by the cap to trade anyone and there aren’t many players that fit the timeline of this team that could be available. The players that are available are old or bad, and expensive.
I’m looking forward to the offseason though. I think a lot of these young players went through an eye-opening campaign, with lots of adversity, that will serve them well this summer and into next season. Whether it was Nazar hitting a production wall mid-season; Rinzel struggling with consistency and losing a lot of battles that he’d win if he had another 15-20 pounds on his frame; or Levshunov having nights where his physical tools took over followed by nights where his decision making really hurt him.
On the plus side, I think Connor really took a step this year and is just scratching the surface in terms of the player he can be and the impact he can have when he’s playing at a high pace and using his skating. I agree that he needs a linemate that can finish and make plays with him. We’ll see what happens.
LarrcasM
Draft Stenberg. Korch puts on some weight, Rinzel puts on a lot of weight and gets a mean streak. Trade two of our first rounders next year with a middling prospect for Knies. Arty resets in the off-season and looks like an NHL player.
Show up to start next year with 3 40+ point rookies in Kantserov, Frondell, and Stenberg with a proven top 6 guy in Knies. Defense finds their footing.
HeyHo__LetsGo
They are to the point where they sit down and take an honest long look at what they have. They have some nice pieces up front, on the defence, and a good starting goalie. They also have a lot of young guys who can fill the rest of the roster, but it would be worthwhile looking at if they are guys who will fill the roles properly going forward. If they arent it might be worthwhile trading some for parts that fill those roles more effectively.
An underwhelming opinion, but it really does look like they could use a true shut down centre before more depth on the top two lines (considering prospects, the top draft pick this summer, and whats on the roster now)…
redalloy
I think getting the #1-2 pick is the most ideal situation to grab either Mckenna or Stenberg. I’m more hyped about the idea of Mckenna considering his production over the last 2 years but I think the hawks should get Stenberg.
Besides getting either of those two, I think the progression of this team will depend on how the D core develops. We have extremely young defense, in which it’s too early to say any of them are a bust right now, but the success of the team will come from how they are able to play. So the question becomes, do you trade out some of these young guys for a proven D or just sign any D in FA. I think the right move for any team is to trade out prospects when you are ready to win. I’m not sure if our forward core is there yet though as the forwards we envision as part of this project are all under 22.
No_Tangerine6415
We get Gavin Mckenna and pair him with Bedard and Frondell. We could use a more experienced defensive minded defensman hopefully we could pick up Rasmus Anderson in free agency
Head_Nerd_In_Charge
Some of this is probably not reasonable, but most ideal for me would be this:
As of today, these are the people in the roster I would switch out via buyout, trade, or moving to AHL
Burakovsky (buy out) -> McKenna/Stenburg
Boisvert (AHL) -> Kantserov
Mangiopane (waivers) -> Oliver Moore
Toninato (AHL) -> Maybe Vanacker?
Lafferty (don’t sign) – FA signing bottom 6 forward
EDM + Draft picks (trade) -> established good defenseman from a cap strapped team or a team looking to rebuild
Sign Bedard and Mikheyev
AndyThatSaysNi
Surprisingly…very little moves. It’s all about roster management with the young guys filling up slots for me. I think the splash we’re all looking for will come from a full season of youth gelling rather than vets filling the lineup.
**Forwards**: Buyout Burakovsky. Moore, Frondell, high draft pick, Lardis stay up. Bring over Kantserov. Extend Bedard (obviously) and give him the C.
Frondell-Bedard-Stenberg
Lardis-Nazar-Kantserov
Greene-Moore-Turbo
Donato-Mangiapane-Bert (Slaggert)
**Defense**: Bridge deal for Korch, and he stays up for the year. Here’s your 1 place for a vet to rotate out Lev/Rinzel for Rockford.
