Not a leaf fan but I’ll defend them a little. Yes they had letdowns, but just as much they’re a victim of the completely broken NHL playoff format. In a sane format they’d have been advancing further year over year.
It’s true they handed out NTCs like pez. But that’s what teams who are expecting to have a Blackhawks style dynasty with 2-3 cups do. You buy now, pay later. And now unfortunately they have to pay, and there’s no way out of these contracts and no picks to rebuild with. Pain is coming. Long term pain.
