Every time I see Wild logo, I am still in awe how it’s a bear’s head.

The Wild are about to begin their 15th playoffs appearance.

The North Stars clinched 17 times.

Was a fan starting in the 06 season. The post Gaborik/Burns years were rough, but it’s been a thrill watching so many good, great, and sometimes elite players for the organization since has been a joy. I would love for one of these years to be that capture that magic the 03 run had before my fandom started. Very curious how the Stars series goes.

Just living in a hockey crazy market like Minnesota gets you the perspective the State of Hockey moniker isn’t a joke when people with Northstar fandom still come by or stuff like State Tournaments happen. Arena is always jampacked.

Pretty dang cool that teams like the Wild and Frost can represent this place nationally.

Every time bettman wants to kill them he’s reminded their logo is a bear and he pauses it

Minnesota North Stars was such a great name. I really wish it was left behind when they moved.

Instead we got boring ‘Wild’ and ‘Stars’. Dallas could have at least gone with the rumored Lone Stars name.

RIP the northstars but it gave us the best logo in sports

  7. I’m going to choose that this is a good sign that this happened just before we face off with the Stars in the playoffs.

I just brought my dad to his first Wild game in probably 15 years. We definitely over indulged at the bar before going to the arena and he kept wandering around saying fuck Norm Green to everyone who would listen

I was a teenager in the 90s and it was always so weird to me that, for 7 years, there was no NHL team in Minnesota… while for damn near that entire stretch, there were three teams in California and two in Florida.

    Norm sucks.

And all that’s happened since the leafs won a cup!

  11. Crabbyrob

I still love the North Stars logo and colour scheme. Long live the Norris Division!

  12. AgeOfTheExpandingMan

Turn the Wild logo 90 degrees and it looks like Greed

  13. Taking the mantle with honestly the best logo in the league personally.

I wonder if this means the Wild fans will finally stop complaining about Dallas « stealing their team ».

Of course it won’t. Those salty folks will never stop hating.

  15. and yet there are still a good chunk of MN fans that are usually actually too young to have seen the North Stars but won’t shut the fuck up about the North Stars.

  16. I’m a Blackhawks fan but always had a spot for the North Stars when they weren’t kicking our ass. Must’ve been the Jersey, since I bought a McRae 17 one years ago.

  17. KMerrells

The North Stars live on in my heart, so this is untrue.

  18. cheeky_nonconformist

Crazy to think there was a time where Minnesota didn’t have a hockey team

  19. Surprised-elephant

The unofficial Minnesota state mottto “fuck norm green”

  20. Solid_External7011

Had this thought about Whalers/Hurricanes the other day too

One thing to note, the Wild technically already did a couple years ago, going from when the franchise was founded instead of first game, the Wild were founded on June 25, 1997 and the North Stars on February 9, 1966, giving the Wild an extra 2 years on the North Stars

  22. Hear, hear!

And may Minnesota never lose their NHL team ever again. I couldn’t fathom a team that would Jet to the desert. That would be Wild, they wouldn’t be following their North Star. If my team were to re-locate, things would end in Flames.

    ….uhhh….

anyway, I love Minnesota and I’m very happy for the Wild, forever my expansions brethren.

  23. Gamer2xJJ

North Stars went to Dallas, would be funny if Dallas wore retro North Star jerseys in the playoffs every game; just like Colorado and Carolina did during the season lol

It’s the throwback we’re missing.. because heritage, right? lol

  24. Initial-Bass-5866

I think the North Stars still had a lot more success. Imagine if the wild get knocked out in the first round this year and next, then Hughes walks for nothing.
That would put them well below the Canucks in terms of historical team ineptitude

  25. Marckthesilver13

Wild have one of the best logo’s in the NHL! I still love the North Stars logo. That was fire 🔥

  26. Still don’t know why we can’t have one team called the « Stars » and another called the « North Stars ». Didn’t the CFL have two teams called the Roughriders?

  27. CWinter85

This feels weird….. my parents both fully remember both of these time periods. Well, maybe not most of the 70s for my dad.

  28. GoodPointMan

Good for them. Go celebrate by sweeping the Stars!
