Hell yeah The leafs are not the Habs, they are the worst-losing hockey franchise of the last 50 years! Wake-up man!
Berube and Pelly make a great pair. Both brainless
Hire Ross Mahoney from the Caps
The leafs have had the best coach in Mike Babcock and President Brandan Shanahan, but they failed too the leafs need someone unknown bright guy not some ready for retirement people in the front office.
Before brad came on, flames fans said "it'll be a disaster". and it was. so no, you are wrong
The thing every single media outlet is missing, and i swear they all watch and copy each other, is that this team's identity is a mess, and was last year. We need a GM who will instill an identity and fill it in with the right people. "The players have to perform" yes, but they WILL perform better under a structured organisation: Noah Gregor, Pontus Holmberg, Fraser Minten are three cases on three different teams that suggest this is true.
The organisation and the Pres/GM/coach need to be singing from the same hymn sheet, the same plan, if that's a 2-3 year turnaround, fine, but we need to bring in the players who MATCH that vision. Our stars, not one of them matches berube's vision of hockey.
If you're going to discuss golf on your Leafs channel, then why don't you ever discuss the exciting sport of insect copulation, or the world watching paint dry championships?
You guys realize that if the Leafs manage to keep this year pick then next years 1st becomes an unprotected pick for Boston AND the 1st round the year after becomes also an unprotected pick for PHI right?
The best thing that could happen to the Leafs is to lose their last 2 in regulation and hope that Calgary and or the NYR can tie or pass them in points. 3rd last – 100% chance of keeping pick, 4th last 80%, 5th last 40%, 6th last 15%.
For those of you who say what’s the difference- you have to give up a pick in 27 and 28 anyway – this draft year is very strong – any top 5 pick this year should be a foundational piece that you can start the rebuild around. Hopefully moving AM and Willy can get you some top end picks and prospects with the plan of contending again in 5 years (without letting AM walk in 2 years for nothing and not having a decent draft pick until 2029).
I would keep Johnny and try to get Laughton back as a UFA – good pros to show the next group of young kids how it’s done. I would also keep Knies and see if Cowan has a top 6 role in his future.
Trade AM this summer – #1 priority. Then trade Willy who said he doesn’t want to stick around for a rebuild. Also trade OEL, McCabe, Carlo, Robertson, Domi, Macelli, Joshua, and Stolarz (if you still can). Most of these guys have trade value, some never did. Reilly should also be traded, but not until he gets a chance to play for a new coach. He has little to no trade value after a horrible couple of seasons under Berube. Maybe he gets some value back.
Shut down Knies who is playing through injury, OEL who missed a few games recently with injury and Woll – playing Stolarz in a meaningless game got him hurt and hurt his trade value.
Berube needs to go the day after the season is over, he should have been fired after Christmas, but Treliving stood by his guy.
New management with a long term plan in mind involving building through the draft and holding on to your 1st round picks will be best going forward
Are you both jewish?
I think Mehta could be a good gm as long as someone like Ron Francis becomes president.
