Yzerman just gave up an unprotected draft pick that could easily become a lottery pick… that alone should guarantee SY loses his job.. I mean who does that?
He needs to go. The offseason conversations need to be around what teams he will waive the NTC to. It doesn’t sound like he wants to be here anymore, so maybe it will be mutual.
Larkin needs to be stripped of the captaincy. He has not shown the ability to get this team refocused through any of these yearly collapses. We need a captain who can actually motivate this team when they are struggling.

Some people here are saying that Larkin should have been more articulate in his post-game remarks, but he’s obviously devastated by the loss, and feels a lot of responsibility for it, and the late-season swoon. He can’t speak objectively about it yet, because it’s still too fresh.
People can point out his lack of late-season production on 5v5, but if you look at his stat sheet, he’s producing at a very high level. He’s not the problem here. It’s Steve’s team, and the team he has assembled is soft, and doesn’t have enough talent.
I suppose, because of his history here, he deserves another year, but if they miss the playoffs next year, we need a new GM.

About a month ago when I watched Dylan Larkin and the United States hockey team defeat Canada, which is my home country, I told myself if he comes back to Detroit and he can lead them to the playoffs, no hard feelings.
However if he was going to sit there at the Olympics and play Mr. Big Shot and act like his « leadership » had anything to do with them winning and then come back to Detroit and shit the bed like the previous years I’d hate him forever. Well, look what he did! I’m glad you had a great time in Milan bud, looks like that’s all you’ll ever win at this point.
I never thought I would have such negative feelings about a Detroit Red Wings Captain but my goodness. The guy is just not Captain material. Fucking sad how we went from Yzerman, Lidstrom, Zetterberg to this soft ass baby.
If the wings are a « trasitions team » then they shouldn’t fucking loose every neutral zone loose puck. Every Fucking One.

The pain…. Do better next year. Let’s hope our prospect start flowing and let’s focus on getting more talent and grit! I’m so sad that we’re done and we have waited so long….. but I am reminded of what a disaster some other teams are that jump the gun on a rebuild
