@Canucks de Vancouver

@mattsekeres | @justBlakePrice | @CraigJButton https://twitter.com/sekeresandprice https://www.facebook.com/SekeresandPrice https://www.tiktok.com/@sekeresandprice https://www.youtube.com/sekeresprice https://www.instagram.com/sekeresandprice 📧 live@sekeresandprice.com 📲 778-402-9680 https://www.sekeresandprice.com/ https://www.rinkwidevancouver.com #Canucks #VancouverCanucks #NHL #Hockey

  1. The young guys need a couple more years to develop but I agree they are solid…but outside of Hronek who’s doing a more than admirable job since Hughes departure, they lack a true future PP quarterback. If fans are expecting Buium to be that guy they shouldn’t get their hopes up. That’s not to say he doesn’t have an interesting skill set; though not a fast skater (he’s certainly no Hughes..) he is explosive and has excellent edge work and protects the puck by making quick lateral moves and constant fast stick handling, a bit like how garland was able to protect the puck well despite his lack of size. For this reason he’s great in tight spaces, he actually plays more like a power forward than a PP quarterback. That’s not to say he can’t be useful on a PP, he’s looked fine in the left side wall/left point position mostly feeding Hronek 1 timers on a PP that is unquestionably much improved. Hes generally less mistake prone or positionally off then some of the other young D like EPJr or Mancini, but like Willander he’s struggled against good rush teams and gets beaten to the outside from time to time, but he has started to play better with Hronek guiding him. His main issue has been decisions with the puck, namely making bad passes, so I don’t know if PP quarterback is his role, but the offensive instincts are certainly there. If anyone is expecting to replace Hughes, your best and only bet is Landon DuPont in next years draft. He is absolutely unreal….One more tank should do it. 👌

  2. Hopefully the team doesn't jump the gun here and remain realistic. They are a long way off to do damage in the playoffs. They don't have the pieces yet, and center position remains a concern.
    As encouraging it is, the past two Wins, they should really dig in, learn and enjoy the process of the rebuild.
    People are talking DuPont next year, but let's get through this draft first, as it remains to be seen how the build goes.
    Being the worst, literally everything needs to improve.

  3. Good job with respect to drafting? Lol. They picked up nobody of worth since Hughes, while passing on some really solid guys, while burning a ton of picks, and that's exactly why they're in the position they're in now. What kind of primo copium are Canucks fans expected to swallow while looking at this?
    Player agents might be bullish on the defensemen, as Zeev apparently wants 8×9, but he's probably a no.3 guy on a competitive team, and his long-contract peers recently signed were all clearly better. Willander? Probably in the same boat. While the Petterssons are bottom-pair guys who fill out spots in the top-4 as needed. This is average to mediocre, at best.

  4. Yes some of the Defense is fine, it’s just the forward group and the goaltending sucks ass. That’s the majority of the roster tho

  5. Remember everyone, he's referring to the defense as a base. So yes, it a decent start wrt to their defense but they are going to still have acquire more talent on defense and pretty everywhere else with regards to centre and goal tending.

  6. I wouldn’t add the Pettersons but I can say the back end is looking good Buium ,Willander ,DPettey we have Mynio and Mancini that’s a way better start then teams like Toronto and Calgary
