Per Jesse Blake: « Auston Matthews just made a surprise appearance at the Leafs game to award a fan season tickets for next year.
The fan had made a shot from the far blue line into the opposite net to win the tickets during 2nd intermission. »

It’s nice to see him. It’s not really indicative of anything, but at least he’s not already sitting poolside in Arizona.
He looks pretty happy. This isn’t something he has to do.
1. He’s in Toronto.
2. He’s attending games.
3. He looks sincerely happy.
4. Crowd reacted well.
I said it before and I’ll say it again. Matthews was the only one who signed and extended early during the previous season. I don’t see him leaving Toronto

The forwards were ok this year. JT hit. 30 Nylander was decent. Knives was a power forward. Matthews was hurt and had Olympics, too much hockey.
The defensive core was terrible and I would have a team of rookies back there than this group.

They showed this on the prime broadcast. I can’t remember the last time they showed anything like this on a sports net or TSN broadcast. Like any sort of fan giveaway.
And the crowd was way louder again on a prime broadcast.

Matthews is the exact number one center I DREAMED about having on our team during the dark ages.
I hope the rest of our fanbase gets on board with building a supporting cast around him instead of trying to get him shipped out of here.
