It’s a great article imo and starts with the offseason moves. A lot of this is “hindsight is 20/20” but, therein lies the benefit and sobering reality of hindsight

We were never as good as we looked, and we were never as bad as we looked.
(There were a few times that was untrue, but for the last part, when we were lucky we were REALLY lucky, and when we weren’t we REALLY weren’t.)

We all witnessed the benefits of having a goalie who turned out to be the Hart and Vézina winner last season. This season, we witnessed what having below league average goaltending gets you.

Great article.
I think the reason the Jets missed the playoffs is mostly down to bad luck, but that the organization did itself no favours when it comes to optimizing the deployment of players to create best results.
That said, even with optimal deployment, this was not a cup contender. I pretty strongly believe there’s a pathway to addressing the ‘big picture’ needs of this roster, but it’s going to require a willingness to take risks and make big swings heretofore unseen by the Jets organization.

florida had a bigger fall from grace id say.

The Jets have shown they can score goals, and produce highlight reel saves, but they’re once again in a place where if Helle isn’t stopping EVERYTHING they have a large chance of losing. They gotta tighten up defensively. I’m not stressed though, they still have a good team that just lost their MVP goalie for a stretch and went on a slide
