No surprise.
Obviously genetics and what not, but he’s a spitting image of his dad in the early part of his Wings tenure. Like scarily similar.
He’s bigger than his dad for sure and doesn’t shy away from contact or getting dirty.

Anyone commenting how this is embarrassing, it’s a tryout and this happens around the league. Settle down.
Doesn’t cost us one of the 50 contracts. His game developed quite a bit from what I’ve watched. If his name wasn’t Draper this wouldn’t even be a story. Likely goes to Toledo as do most of our GR contract guys and hopefully he develops on the offensive side. Worth a shot
For the people somehow triggered by this, of course Kris is happy but he has to prove to Steve, that he grew up with/around, that he’s worth a damn. If anyone’s gonna bust their ass it’s gonna be him.
This isn’t surprising. They signed at least one, (maybe both?) of the Chelios kids who were extremely average years ago too.
Ellis Rickwood signed with Texas Stars (Dallas’s AHL affiliate) for one year contract with ATO.
He is a 6.2 center who has 72 points in 74 games in the last two seasons.(teammate of Dylan James)

He is not AHL quality. Pure bullshit nepotism
I wish we’d stop the nepotism and break up the good old boy network. If we were benefiting from it I might have a different opinion. But Chelios kid, Yzerman’s brother and now Draper’s kid. Filling the front office with old teammates, maybe if they brought something to the party besides the memories that « we played together on good teams », so of course we can run an NHL hockey team. It kind of stinks.
