As for the playoffs I guess I’m rooting for my preseason cup prediction, Carolina vs Vegas, with Vegas winning.
Wouldn’t mind Edmonton or Buffalo winning it. Pretty good stories for both of those.
Now that the season has concluded, I’m not sure Vegas will make it. Feel better about Carolina tho.

We’re not going to win a Stanley Cup. Probably never. We’re clearly not willing to do what it takes. We will forever chase short-term mediocrity, never leveraging and truly building a contender. Nope. We’re a pasture for has-beens. (Stammer *has* grown on me though.)
That’s fine. You don’t get into Nashville sports if you like winning big games. We lose Finals (and semi-finals) in this town. It’s what we do.
The advent of hyper-capitalist sports wagering and the acceptance of naked corruption across wide sectors of business and government are pretty much the death knell for a small market team like us to ever punch our ticket.
And that’s before we get into our terrible management, mediocre coaching, ambivalent ownership and the entire direction of our attraction being opposing fans and Broadway tourists, hockey knowledge be damned.
We are, in a word, completely fucked. But I don’t care. Toothcats are still my favorite team in my favorite sport and I’m not about to quit on them now., nearly 30 years on.
I still remember the first game. 10 Oct 1998. And all the twists and turns thereafter. I don’t care if we never win. (It *will* affect the amount of $ I spend on game tickets and yellow things but it won’t affect my loyalty.)
Sports is just local theatre with violence and I’ll keep watching them skate around. But yeah, today *sucked.*

Prospects!
With what short NHL time they had, the rookies looked incredible from the get go! I like to think (hardcore coping rn) that the boys will make it to the main roster permanently next season. They worked so well alongside our veterans; ROR and Stamkos especially. Brady Martin played his heart out in the World Juniors (?) and the signing of Fink so soon makes me believe they’ll be recalled very early on.
I’m really pumped for the coming season honestly. The fact of the matter is that we were the bottom of the barrel in November – and we were fighting for a wildcard spot! Imagine the possibilities as they train during the offseason!
