I disagree with Jesse. An Analytics based GM or President will 100% see the xG, Shot Maps, Shot Differential, etc—since Berube's takeover and likely fires him. There is no way they don't see the analytics side of Berube hockey. Especially with how Pelley is taking about the future of the Leafs.
Flyers were great from October to December
I think Jesse should stream Flyers Penguins and lean into the “Flyers are irrelevant” angle he’s been low key trolling with.

Even more impressive with the Flyers & Vladar’s season- they’re getting results with arguably the worst goalie in the NHL on their roster backing them up in Sam Ersson, who has a .867 Save% in 32 games. Talk about making the most out of limited resources. Fascinating they’ve managed to stay as competitive as they’ve been- trading away some key players while simultaneously having a top 5-10 prospect pool….

They've won 4 series, but they won twice in 02-03, and since the lockout they've only made it out of the first round 2 times in the last 20+ years, and haven't cleared the first round since the beat the Jay Bouwmeester-Paul Stastny-Vladimir Tarasenko Blues in 2014-15.

If the Leafs even interview Mike Gillis for a GM job, fold the franchise. I think the reason he hasn't worked in the league in a decade is he's been in witness protection. I remember those last couple seasons in Vancouver, that man was DROWNING. He had an aging roster on its way down, the mood around the team at large was that of a circus crossed with a grease fire, he was totally impotebt to mitigate ANY of it, and the Canucks have NEVER recovered from it in a dozen years. If he hadn't been fired someone probably would've shown up at his house, I'm serious.

I couldn't be happier with how the Gauthier stuff went down for the Flyers. Kids good, but he didn't wanna be here. Drysdale has become a legit T4 D. It led to them needing a Zegras who's the teams best C & U25. Also a good chance with Gauthier they pass on Martone (another winger) for the centre in Hagens & while I like him, Martone is very special.
The Flyers scored 4 or more in 8 of the final 14 games once Foerster returned & Martone joined. They also weren't kept below 2 in any of those games. This offense is an entirely different level now with those 2 in it.
Flyers got Zegras & Drysdale. Ducks got Gauthier & Poehling. Has worked out damn well for both sides.
As a Flyers fan I'd do that Gauthier trade again & again. He acted like a spoiled brat & so did his agent. Sure we lost the deal they were always going to. Drysdale was the 2nd best D on a team that finished w/98 points & graded out as one of the best defensive teams in hockey. he's only 24 (just turned it) & a RHD.
Funny u guys bash the Flyers for the Gauthier trade but don't do the same to the Ducks for the Zegras one?? They traded a 24 yr old uber skilled C for a B6er & a 2nd. Zegras was arguably team MVP & had nearly 70 points. While filling a HUGE hole on the roster at C. It was an absolute fleecing.
Helluva year for Danny Briere. Stole Zegras. Signed Vladar & Dvorak. Drafted Martone. Cates extension is a steal. Bringing up Bump & Barkey was tremendous. Loved the Jiricek trade. Held onto Ristolainen. + Still have that Leafs 2027 1st that could be unprotected.

let’s face it. Kevin Adams was not for the players. The reason Jack left Buffalo because he wouldn’t let him get surgery, I can only imagine what else he was against the players doing. He can make good moves but pointless if his team doesn’t like him. Hockey teams can ride a high all season, look at all the other teams that turned it around. There was always one big thing that changed right before the turn around.
The statement about foerster is a bit misleading, he's been hurt most of the year (thought his season was done) and he came back post deadline and has been a difference maker.
And for the love of god get an insider from Philly to discuss the Cutter situation because the way you guys talk about it is maddening.

Problem I foresee with the leafs. Even if the Leafs win UFA and sign Tuch, Marchment and Raddysh. They will still be fighting for a playoff spot, is that enough to entice AM to sign? If not is the time now? Who needs a 1C, has high picks and or top end prospects? NYR, Utah, LA, StL, Clb to name a few (no in division trades, unless it blows your socks off).
