Absolutely, no question. Brings out the best in the Cat and is extremely affordable. He wasnt the problem on this team. Way too many other holes to fill.

We're talking a lot of scoring here, but no defense. Every game the Red Wing goalies are getting peppered with shots like it's a practice. I think our order of business is to find that Lidstrom, How many games have the Red Wings been ahead this year, especially those last few games and got beat? Gibson is a monster net presence. Let's show him some support. I don't even want to know what we're going to do with the draft in June. Defense drafts this year Parekh, Reid, Verhoeff?
I liken Kane’s play as Larionov. 3rd line and limited ice makes 100% sense.
He costs nothing and if you bring in better dudes, you push him down a line. It’d be amazing to have Kane on a third line.
The parts of the season when he wasn't as effective were due to injury. He was one of the few players on this team producing during March. The question will be if he wants to come back or if he's done with a team that is not getting into the playoffs. He has limited time & could very likely want to be on a contender before he's done.

Of course. A few weeks ago I said we should bring him back only if he's on the 3rd line but I take that back. He can play in the top 6 but we need another quality LW to play with Larkin and Raymond, and almost an entire new bottom 6

Should have traded him 2 years ago. As for next season, I really have no interest. I doubt he is willing to take a significant pay cut to play on 3rd or 4th line and be a power play specialist. Dude lacks passion, disregards defense completely, and he is a piece of shit person. Power play was trash at the end of the season, so I don't see the appeal. Let him walk.
The question shouldn’t be about replacing Kane…it should be about replacing the bottom 6.

Kane isn’t the problem, at least he produces point, it’s all the other schleps who do nothing whatsoever.
You’re not getting a content Kane and producing anywhere near his current ppg if he’s not playing with DeBrincat.
Some of the bottom six players could take a screen test for a new INVISIBLE MAN movie. Get rid of them .Keep Kane and bring in some of these highly advertized prospects that the organization has been developing.

I remember after the 2023-2024 season when we got rid of Ghost, Perron, Wallman, Fabbri.. and all the conversation was around how we were going to replace the goals we lost. This off season cannot be that way. Unless you can legitimately replace Kane and the points he puts up, getting rid of him would be pretty dumb.
Kane frustrates the heck out of me, but he certainly shouldn't be top priority for replacement when literally half this roster is pretty useless
