@Blue Jackets de Columbus

    nah.

Z is not the issue here. We know he cares, we know he hates losing.

Also, yeah duh he’s gonna defend himself and his guys.

  2. Not captain material. Maybe focus on the fact that your team lost 6 games in a row on home ice to end the season.

  3. iampiolt

I knew this would happen. Bones immediately followed it up with knowing that they care but he was just angry. If it offends you, you’re gonna have to work thru it.

Z severely underperformed after 4 nations and was sick after the Olympics this year. That’s 2 seasons where he’s gone off to achieve glory without us, but with our full support and admiration. He should be able to see what coach sees by now.

Werenski is in the right and wrong. Feel like he should’ve at least showed it on the ice… Werenski didn’t do much in the last 10 games either. When he’s pretty much your top player on the team he’s expected to show up every night. And tbh he didn’t really do much, after that game vs Boston

  5. So far every player who has done media today has said that they disagreed with Bowness’ comments 🫣🫣

  6. Party_Independence85

I honestly think this was completely fair of Bones to say, especially after all the chill and positive/encouraging press he gave throughout his tenure, he deserved to be upset, and I think his interview last night just showed how much he actually cares and wants to help the team. We also all know that Zach isn’t the problem here and the comment wasn’t directed at him.

I’d like to see the full quote/discussion in context before I make a more serious opinion about this – but man, if my coach thought I did not hate losing, I’d be fiery, not this.

  8. Cautious-Bet-9440

To me it sounds like Z is trying to keep the peace. He also said that Bones can help them win.

  9. Rude-Grapefruit203

If I remember right. Laine said pretty much the same thing about the jackets last season after he was traded. If two different people said the same thing then maybe there is some truth to what they both said.

  10. Eeechurface

Sure they cared, they just didn’t care enough when it got tough.

  11. Jedi_Of_Kashyyyk

I agree with Bowness. If Zach disagrees then he can feel free to come out next season and prove Bowness wrong.

  12. No_Letterhead319

Down vote me all you want but Z is not a leader and is one of the locker room problems. Next year is the last year of his current contact and he should be traded for the top value that the team can get out of him. If there is one position that we’re looking good at with younger players and development and drafting it is defense.

  13. elmariachio

Werenski puts in effort, he puts in the time. It just seems he never puts in heart.

  14. BedaHouse

With all due respect to Z, the record the last 4 weeks and last night’s performance speaks for itself. It does not warrant defending. Settle down.

The team did NOT show up for the last game, AT home. Remember last season, last game? You guys put on a show and the season ended on a high note despite the disappointment of missing the playoffs. Nothing like that happened last night. It was just « well another loss. »

Bones is right. Its not a « temper tantrum » by some hack coach. He backed you up and hyped up the team during that run, only to see the team not show up/not care. You lost over and over and nothing changed. Bones’ rant is a coach finally losing his patience with a team that had every opportunity to be in the playoffs and squandered it.

You said it yourself, Z. At the start of the season, you expected this team to make the playoffs. The team failed. No way around that. (BTW, I do not think Z quit or didn’t try, but it is a bad look to act like all is exactly the opposite of what Bones said)

  15. None of the players seem to have liked the “they don’t care” part.

But the reality is they needed a wake up call from somebody. Maybe it would have been better off kept in the room, but I have to imagine Bones tried to and didn’t think it was getting through.

  16. If anyone thought they were just gonna come out and agree with it I have a Nigerian prince id love for you to meet

  17. thecbjfan

Playing soccer pregame and being all happy is quite the opposite of your statement Zachary

  18. Erazzphoto

Then what’s the problem Zach? This isn’t anything new, let’s hear why you think you guys keep blowing leads and had the most epic Bluejacket collapse when you barely missed the playoffs last year. Let’s hear it

  19. ExpertMousse9453

Personally I have not heard any interviews today. However from what I am reading in this thread , « nobody has taken accountability ».

If my work-related performance reflected what we are seeing from our team, I’m fired. These guys are soft ASF

  20. TouristOpentotravel

Well Zach, on ice actions proved different.

  21. IntelligentJacket599

Go fulfill your boyhood dream of playing in Detroit, Z.

  22. Sand-Useful

Dubas would like to discuss a couple more of your players.

  23. Complex_Run_6699

COMPLACENCY is the issue. I don’t think Bones believes the team doesn’t care about losing, and I think Z took Bones’ words too literally. Bones was saying that the team accepts losing too easily and accepts being the loser too willingly.

  24. FriedRiceJutsu

Oh boy none of the on ice leadership is taking accountability. Not very optimistic about the prospect of bringing Bones back and the required buy in to the culture change. Get ready for more years of the same Jackets hockey we’ve been watching for a quarter century

  25. SmilerDoesReddit

Dude, nobody took accountability on the video they put up on YouTube. It only further proves Bowness’ point. The culture needs to change. It can’t be nobody’s fault here.
