@Panthers de la Floride

Sad to see it but he hasn’t been himself this year.

  2. EasySound9303

Bummer!! Hopefully Zito can either get it done or work some magic for a new starter because I’d say at this point goaltending is a hole in our way back to post next year assuming full healthy from the skaters

  3. Sorry to see it, but probably for the best.

He was obviously massive the last couple years but at his age and coming off a poor season can understand the team not wanting to commit big money to him.

Main concern is not sure how we upgrade much, even if he wasn’t great nor are any of the options that are likely to be available

  5. dosferrets

Soooo we’re gonna let him walk for nuffin…..should’ve ripped the bandaid off at the deadline.

  6. Internet rumors don’t mean anything. This dude is suddenly a Panthers insider? right.

  7. Lethal_Banana

Maybe I’m coping but Emily Kaplan like 2 weeks ago said they were close to an extension and her reporting is usually accurate.

Don’t want to overpay but don’t want to lose my goat to another team either.

  8. There was literally a report yesterday saying he doesn’t want to leave. These dudes don’t know anything except how to farm clicks.

  9. CtrlZBri

I only trust Elliotte Friedman and little click clacky dress shoes tbh.

Also because if this happens I will have a massive crash out. That’s my elderly emotional support goalie.

Cap is increasing for next season we be aight

Rrrriiiiigggghhhhtttt! Says who exactly? This guy? Lol

I feel like if they were truly that many Miles apart, they would’ve at least let him play one more game this season. Starting Tarasov all these games, in my opinion, was like them saying Bob’s not finished just resting for the rest of this season.

  13. SirStanleyCPanther

Trade? Isn’t he a free agent at end of season and trade deadline over?

  14. Flhitking

Bob isn’t going anywhere… he’ll get a 3-4yr deal, $5-$6 mil/yr, similar to what Marchand got last summer.

  15. Silly_Gene574

I could never be a GM because I get WAY too emotionally attached to these guys. That’s MY people’s princess goalie (in my house we call him the People’s Princess because he blows kisses after wins).

  16. startupsalesguy

It makes sense. Bob wants a multi-year deal and this is the last time he’ll get it.

Florida is in the middle of a cup window.

Do you go back to him after he had an objectively terrible year and hope that he will bounce back at almost 39?

Maybe on a one year deal or cheap two year deal it can make sense. You will have flexibility. But goaltending is so important that risking this cup window on an old goalie you hope bounces back feels very risky.

My guess is if they can’t find a clearly better option they’ll cave to Bob on a 3 year deal at like 4M a year which is still too much and risky. But the goalie market stinks so you have to hope he bounces back.

It’s also possible that if they can hold on to a top 10 pick that gets traded for a goalie in his prime.

Remember when all these insiders told us he was done at the deadline?

  18. SaweetestCuyootie

The truth is we shouldnt pay anything over 2.5 mil for a backup and thats what he’d be at this point. Its just the nature of the business.

  19. wishitwasapar

Jeez the season ain’t even over. Let’s take a breath.

  20. Seaborn4Congress

Bob not being signed yet is just him keeping his options open, as he should. The playoff outcome will absolutely impact his decision. But I’m not worried.

We have the cap space to bring him back at a lower AAV, and realistically there are only two teams that even make sense.

Carolina Hurricanes are actually a perfect team for him, but goaltending is not their issue. Their scoring dries up late in playoff runs and Bob does not fix that.

Los Angeles Kings are more interesting now with his buddy “the breadman,” but he is likely taking a pay cut with California taxes, and with Kopitar retiring they will have a massive hole in their two way game. They also still have not proven they can get past Edmonton.

Lest we forget the Panthers have tailored their entire system to maximize Bobrovsky’s strengths.

    No reason to panic.

  21. bedbseet

I’m choosing to ignore Greg because he’s been wrong many times before

  22. Sufficient_Lime_3253

This is likely bobs agent leaking news to other teams that Bob will be available and to put pressure on the panthers.

Other teams aren’t allowed to tamper with Bob until after June.

Ultimately it’ll be up to Bob taking a pay cut or probably getting a 4-5 year contract vs the cats only giving him 2 years.

  23. WhileInternational41

He was 54th among qualified goaltenders in save % and is approaching 40 years old. There’s no way he’s not taking a massive pay cut here or elsewhere

  24. Osceola_Gamer

    I don’t ever entertain these « insiders ».

  25. jpastrychef

If true, it sucks. But Bob isn’t worth $10 mil per season anymore. If that’s what he is asking for then he can try to get it in FA.
