1. TOO LATE DARCHE, NO TRADE REFUNDS FOR YOU.
-dumb, ill advised, short sighted moves for 4, 81, 10 that didn't move the needle one bit. that and keeping 44 and 27 who has nothing left. we know who ordered those moves. isles can't even man up and say a louzer was behind them.
-walk away from 4, 27. 77? should dump yet stuck with 11, 81.
-roy was let down and cowardly scapegoated out by failed moves/failed strategy. and when isles top g scoring winger has only 21 g's you are not winning anything. get some g scoring wingers = better pp.
-no need for both 44, 10. 53, so long. maybe now is the time to explore a 13 (who can't ignite pp) deal and move 3 or 6? get some futures/assets/cap relief.
-watching 27 lug around on bottom lines is no answer. bottom lines, d depth, physicality needed + g scorers. can stars re-sign rfa jrob? or would laffs move austen cause g scorers aren't easy to find. a g scorer would be the big upgrade and a start because darche's iffy moves point to no future moves. isles are trying to win now with a sub par roster.

  2. Oh please Roy did not move the needle… overall team future looks bright regardless of the outcome of the last 20 games

  3. We say this every year to get younger but this is the year that can happen. Pelech to me is an obvious trade person even though I thought he was awesome to me it’s there last chance to trade him. I also think duclair mayfeild Cizikas Palmieri are all tradeable

  4. Did you see the Blue Jackets coach go crazy on his teams lack of effort? I wonder if the NHL is becoming like the NBA where they don’t value the regular season? I mean the Avalanche won the President’s trophy but nobody seemed to care. 1 goal wins due to all the OT wins Gil.

  5. The Islanders overachieved because of an 18 year old and the goalie. They fixed the PK and OT past woes this season. The trade deadline moves had nothing to do with them missing the playoffs. Schenn was one of the better players down the stretch. Roy kept his lines in a blender so there was never any chemistry built especially with the new players, Pulock was hurt, Deangelo was out, Soucy and Mayfield are just too slow and the Power play (Barzal is the problem) haunted them all season. Schenn and Palat were brought in FOR the playoffs, the existing team was supposed to get them there. I was a seller at the trade deadline knowing the PP was a huge issue BUT that's a hard thing to sell to the fans when you are in a playoff spot for months. The future looks bright and unfortunately that should be without Lee as captain. By the way when loser points in the NHL are so important no OT games in the last 17 games?? That Ottawa loss with 12 seconds left turned out to be the nail in the coffin. This team lost to bad teams all season while also beating the likes of Colorado, Minnesota and Dallas. This team was way too inconsistent. I put that on the coach and captain. Soucy will be gone, Romanov will be back, one of the rookies should play all season (George), Deangelo needs to come back and DeBoer will institute some real defensive structure.

  6. Keep d'angelo scheafer romanov barzal horvat hienemen ritchie schenn gatcomb cizikas shabanov holstrom and lee bc hes still got fuel in the tank and figure out who's gonna help sorokin and palms will be back everyone else can be traded or waived even

  7. Barzals knee injury right off the hop; add to Pelech and Pullock tenderness; this team was soft… Losing Romanov might be the biggest loss of the season! The trades were uneceessary as this team would have been a first round exit so Getting older and less pick rich doesnt act as advantageous… So Darche is learning fast… didn't with Jonathan Drouin! PS Isles with a #13 pick probably the same without the trades…. 54 points see's a top #10 pick perhaps and look at St. Louis 🧐with 8 picks in the top 126 picks! Ohh Thats the definition of pick rich!😎

  8. They have several good young players in the system, bring them up and give them a shot, nothing to lose at this point, I saw the Finley signing 21 years old, and it looks like he put up some good numbers in Collage. Go all in with a youth movement, what could possibly go wrong, we miss the playoffs next year, lol.

  9. Now we havea draft and I have the #13 jersey… I wore it all last season and we ended up with a Miracle…. I think I might start wearing it again as it's been on the bike for the season… Call the Wolfman! Lets start that lotto ball mojo! Next Year Islanders!

  10. This roster needs to be seriously turned over and sadly I don’t see a place for Lee on it. Give the C to Horvat. They need speed, toughness, some size and defensive depth. And too many gentlemen on the team. A little nastiness has been sorely lacking.

  11. Good they list now we have a great yugh luck to get look at San Jose Anaheim ducks build through the draft 5 guys young and future for next 10 years get young get draft picks to surround Matthew shaeffer

  12. Something happened in the last 22 games! Barzal all of a sudden vanished! Our new enforcer was gone. There was a game or 2 where his knee was hit. Was he playing hurt? He seemed to resort back to giving the puck away and becoming a spectator on the back check. Might Barzal be traded this summer? Not sure it was Darche or Lou who signed Palms. Don’t know if Lou had a voice on Romy’s new contract. Getting the Miracle of Schaefer was a blessing! Many fans wanted Misa are they happy now looking back at Darche selection of the consensus number one? I feel Darche got good value for Dobson. Heineman , Eklund, Aitcheson hopefully all are given a chance to make the team. One of Romy or Pelech must be traded at the Draft! George should have a permanent spot . Schaefer, George, and one of Romy or Pelech but not both. Obviously Darche made some rookie mistakes! But was there any influence from Roy? From owners? And does Lou have any ties still? Palms can be traded or traded at the next deadline. Whatever it takes to rid of Palatt Darche must find a Bailey type deal. Duke has to be traded even if you need to retain a million per. I feel after really looking at this team for a year Darche will try to make the necessary changes. He got totally fed up with odd man rushes, break aways, and high danger shots. Removing Roy was needed before 6 other teams got in the mix for Pete! Darche has to draft size n skill! We must get bigger, nastier, and obviously more skilled. What our final draft number will be is still to be determined.

  13. Get rid of Lee Palat sgenn and older guys did young draft picks it get young players from other teams who have potential to build around Shaffer afriuna to veoiw age 23

  14. I like Barzal, but if he was traded for younger grade A prospects and top round picks, I’d lose no sleep. A guy with his talent and he still couldn’t crack 20 goals? He should be a 100 point player. And he’s not exactly the best defensive player either.

  15. Mainly the team was still built around and loyal to their veteran d of Pelech, Pulock and Mayfield. Factor first that they lost Romanov which unraveled their top 4. Schaefer started the year as #6 and became #1. The trade for the 3 was their loyalty to their veteran team making a run. It became obvious when younger teams they previously handled CBJ PHA OTT MTL turned a corner this season and essentially eliminated them in crucial final games. Very hard to trade vets who endured some tough years and essentially saved this franchise. The 2021 po was the high point. No Stanley Cup but UBS Arena and a Top Shelf Franchise.

  16. We need to get rid of the old core, they don’t have the same drive to go through another grind as they did during the trotz era and even then people forget ya we got to 2 3rd round appearances but neither was during a full 82 game season and before covid they were on the verge of falling out of the playoff picture. While it was a fun time they were still somewhat overrated. Time to clean house.

  17. Gil can you run some numbers to show how the power play was , goals for and against, ilya’s numbers etc and record since the trades. Would be cool

  18. Patrick Roy is gone and no longer affects the team. Matthew Darche is still here. What I don't understand was how Darche reached the decision to keep Roy, when he got the job, if he doesn't like the basic gameplanning strategy. The style Roy preferred and planned to implement was nvr a secret. Darche could have rejected it, when he got the job and jettisoned Roy there. He could have shaped the team to fit the coaching philosophy a a new coach he handpicked for this season, instead of making moves that disrupted the team's flow.

I am concerned about the judgement capacity this demonstrates. I don't have any serious problems with any of the players who arrived via in-season trades. But they were not good matches to the gameplan. Once Darche decided to keep Roy, he needed to commit to Roy's gameplan for the entire season, not incfluence it with midseason trades for players whose potential would be maximized elsewhere.

  19. Old legs got very tired, they had nothing left in the tank. Agree with you Gil Schaefer & Sorokin carried this team a long way but others did not step up enough to help them. And I totally agree with you 100% about the Palat, Soucy & Schenn trades and the disconnect! LGI

  20. Hi Gil…Did you see Rick Bowness post game after Washington loss ? Can the Islanders bring him back as HC for a 2nd time…. lol. I know DeBoer will be the HC but the passion and message Bowness delivered is exactly what the NYI need…Thanks
