Including trading him at the first opportunity because of a clear lack of commitment to the team, I hope.

No need to rush him at this point

I am bummed he won’t be in the nhl at the start of the year but I get the logic from his end. If he adds 5-10 lbs of muscle before playing against grown men and doesn’t get hurt that’s probably a safer move for his career. Best of luck to him but leaves us with an obvious hole at 2c to start the year.

Man a lot of people in this sub need to go breathe some fresh air.
I get it, we can all see the light at the end of the tunnel but we cant run to it.
And legit, if youre mad that a young man wants to play a season with his little brother, wants to spend another season adding more weight/getting stronger… And this makes you upset…then kindly frig off and think about some things in your life.

Personally I think Hughes gets an offer on Hage he can’t refuse sometime before the deadline next season.

It doesn’t matter when he gets here, even if it’s at the start next season, Habs still need to acquire a second line centre this summer.

One of the secret sauces to success in the salary cap NHL is having young players that can contribute on $1m cap hits. Right now it’s a matter of picking the right ones to complement our core to 2030, while probably sacrificing a couple for another proven player

I know everyone loves his “story” and thinks he’s gonna be a star but I just don’t see it.
If you take away the 9 points he scores against East Lansing Community Barber College in the first two games which I thought were preseason games but apparently they counted he’s barely a PPG player in his D+2 season while getting 1st line and #1 PP minutes on the #1 team in the country.
If him being a part of the package that landed us Thomas or Knies was what held up the trade… personally I would revisit that option the minute the season ends if possible
( I truly hope this post is reposted in 5 years to mock my stupidity after we keep him and he has his 2nd consecutive 100 point season and a Conn Smythe trophy win)

I didn’t want to see him this season but I was really hoping to see him try to make the squad start of next season.

I honestly think it shows quite a bit of maturity, to be honest…
