Need to trade Larkin, guy isn’t a top 2 center on any stanley cup winning team
7yrs rebuilding is hilarious 😂, especially if there are no results! How many years did it take Yzerman to rebuild "lightnings"?! Anybody? How many yrs later Tampa won Stanley cup and was in finals of Stanley cup? Somebody?!
Buffalo brings in a new no nonsense GM in December. Now firmly in the playoffs. He demands excellence. He's getting better play that's for sure.
Seeing him come back as gm off the heels of helping build a comsistenly good team which would also become one of the biggest thorns in the side in Tampa, no results what so ever here, is there no inspiration for this group? I'll give yzerman a break only because he wasn't skating. wtf….
When was the last time you witnessed a meaningful, smokin hard check from a Red Wings player? I watch other teams come out on fire playing with passion and I can't recall a shift in years where a line played this way. They truly need to dismantle everything about this team and I wish I had the answer.
As a sens fan. Amy team should make the playoffs after 5 years
Sorry for your loss.
utah mammoth have similar record/points.
Cupcakes don't win Stanley Cups.
Launch this entire roster to the moon of the trade market and wake me from this nightmare
I'm proud of every fan who booed this team. Three seasons ago, I decided to return to being a Detroit sports fan. I had to choose which team to support, the Wings or the Pistons. The Pistons won. Yes, we had a horrendous 14-win season, but look at now and where the Pistons are. Steve Yzerman, please take yourself and the scouting team and leave. You have failed and, with free agency all but dead, we need people who can spot and develop talent.
Correction, the wings need a number one center. Larkin is a number two.
100% agree. I’ll always love the Wings and #19, but he is just not a good GM. Needs to be broomed when the series is over in a couple days.
A payoff birth is Fool's Gold. Not a real contender. In all likelihood, 1st round punching bag. Need an overhaul.
Yzerman's going to have to stop refusing to give up some top prospects to get serious talent in return. Otherwise, he'll find himself on the unemployment line in a year (if not sooner).
The Devil's were Laughing at the Wings on Saturday Laughing
The wings are the second team in nhl history to have at least 69 points at the 50 games mark and miss the playoffs. This collapse was the worst one so far. Trade that bum Larkin
There is one common denominator to this team, and that is your arrogant, narcissist general manager, Steve Yzerman. I wanted Yzerman to succeed by the way, but now I just want him gone. the Red Wings can do better than the Dan Quinn of the NHL.
I am as frustrated as anyone. But at least part of the issue is the strength of the Eastern Conference, and even more so in the Atlantic. From 2021-2025, the 8th seed in the east finished with 91 pts. This year it is already 97 pts.
In the Western Conference, 4 of 8 teams in the playoffs have 90 pts or less. The teams from 9-12 in the east are better than or equal to 5 teams in the west that made the playoffs.
My brother lives in Colorado and is a big Avs fan. He was giving me grief on how hard it is for the Avs to win their division. While it is true that the NHL will have Dallas vs. Minnesota in the first round for no good reason, the rest of the West is a joke.
So for me I see that part of the problem is the Eastern Conference right now. Historically, conferences go through periods where upcoming teams and slightly declining teams intersect. If you go back 8 or so years ago, 92 points made the playoffs, and 5-8 teams ended with 85 or fewer points. So not nearly as tight.
That being said, we need to dump Talbot, light a fire under Kasper, find another center, and get better on the 2nd and 3rd defensive pairing. Otherwise, the Wings are fairly young and still have a lot of talent in GR fighting to come up.
Its not working because when we had the worst record in hockey that got us the #5 pick. Look at those years of buffalo getting the #1. Need a culture change. Larkin or Raymond have to leave. Debrincat is your captain. Is always consistent and gives it his all. Illitch needs to open the checkbook or sell the team.
Most forgot the strength of schedule issue when they began losing to strong teams.
Mark my words, the way things are going this is gonna be a 15 year Yzerplan. You got a better chance of being married or having kids before you see real success. Absurd.
Are you surprised?
They're the "new" Dead Wings.
How have the Habs become so competitive in a 4 year rebuild? Yet the Wings are now 10 years in with still no hope.
A lot of blame on Yzerman (some rightfully so), but the reality is the young, higher draft pick guys (aside from Lucas/Moe/Simon) have not taken a jump, even when given ample opportunity, or not showing signs of top-6 potential. So the strategy of draft and develop from within has not panned out. I dunno what direction they need to go, but hard to believe anything changes next year.
Radio sports hosts are clowns, here included. But then so are the wings.
Where are all of these top prospects and on what planet does a GM get 7 years to rebuild????? The Griffins are perennial Calder contenders and the second said prospects hit the ice in Detroit, they look lost. The Wings have ZERO playoff appearances. I'm sorry, you're in a salary cap league where half the teams make the playoffs. There is no justified reason for them to suck like this.
Correction: They need a #1 center. They already have a #2.
This is actually tied for 2nd longest no playoffs streak ever with Florida and Edmonton (not “4th worst”). They also haven’t won a series since 2013 which if Buffalo wins round 1 will be the longest active playoff winless streak.
Our boys have no heart. Low moral and lazy play. To many coasters and not enough Make shit happen players.
A gm that doesn’t have to give accountability is why players won’t. Yzerman can’t give a presser to save his life. McCoach is the only one that will. Holland left us with more talent than Steve has signed or drafted.
Yzerman is in a really bad spot now because a lot of their prospects are at an all time low for value. Especially the 22-23 draft class with the exception of Augustine. Every attempt at addressing the RD was a complete failure with Holl,Gustafson, and Hamonic. You landed one serviceable bottom pair/7th guy in JBD. So then he goes off the script and gives away a boatload for another 35 year old to go with Chiarot at 3 more years. No other GM in professional sports would survive this.
Not drafting Quinn Hughes initially was very disturbing and again this year had the opportunity to to correct that mistake yeah they did it again.
Soft boys deserve boos. I will boo them next year.
Burn it all down
So reminds me of late 70s early 80s red wing hockey.
they overachieved early on, look at the goal differential it was bad even back early
Boycott Wrigley Fields now! Detroit sucks. Wings suck. Facts.🤘🃏🎸🥃🍺🤤🪦💩🦨😎🌛👍🇺🇸🤣😂
born in 1992.. this is the least entertaining team iv seen in my life..
Should have traded for Q Hughes. That was a mistake.
Early in the season I watched the horrible back checking and lack of hustle. They lost 90% of battles along the boards. I knew they were in trouble.
For past 3 years the wings end up at the worst place in standing, the wild card bubble, not bad enough for top draft picks, not good enough to make playoff.
Hockeytown? So undeserved, please change that, sounds stupid…
And they lose tonight in the most red wings fashion
Wings fans are spoiled from some of the most legendary teams in sports history,
The NHL is 10x more competitive than 10 years ago, it's easy to talk shit lol
Wings didn't have any real talent coming up thanks to previous management, it's a must bigger picture
No Cup for Kane.
