Making the playoffs is not a goal. Winning the Stanley Cup is the only goal any team in the NHL should have. When the Leafs proved they couldn't get out of the 1st round of the playoffs, I stopped watching them.
Edit: Tanev is correct that the team has a ton of good players. The issue is the players do not play as a good team … not even close. Good luck to the new GM b/c it'll be necessary. For once, choose the right player for the team, not the supposed "best" player in the draft. This is why soo many former Leafs excel on new teams, the wrong player for the Leafs was chosen.

Trade one goalie and a top player for D help. The team gave up 299 goals. Tampa and Buffalo gave up 240 goals. The D has to produce points to make the playoffs.

Not enough team chemistry and character players…..be nice to see team stop getting rid of their best players ! Eg: Hyman, Marner etc…..dump data analytics, focus on scouting solid character players, you can win without lazy negative inane people….eg; NYLANDER.
The team was terrible when there was no injuries.
