I like it – nice work OP.
I think a lot of frustrations for this rebuild vs the pre-dynasty years stems from how we acquired the pieces.
Toews & Kane both debuting together in the 07-08 season were sort of the last pieces of the rebuild, while also being the most important.
We lucked into Bedard very early on while we were still offloading the mismanaged assets due to Bowman’s last couple years.
I’d like to think there would’ve been the same level of reaction if Patrick Kane was drafted in 2004 instead of 07.
I think we need a solid winger acquisition akin to havlat but with less injuries.
Nice post
Um…in 2008-2009 the Blackhawks finished with 104 points and league wide scoring was lower.
I’ve said this a few times, but yeah we lucked into Bedard possibly a year or two earlier than probably anticipated. It’s not a bad thing, just then fans expect us to be further along, faster. I’m a KD truther (for now), I think he’s going about the rebuild smart, especially with the current cap structure…while the extension was announced yesterday, I think he has this summer and next to truly show where we’re headed before he starts to get under fire, and I hope he makes it work in that time to show the fans.
Comparing these graphs it looks like current roster aligns best w/ 2005 much more than 2009.
I’m sorry but on mobile this graph belongs on r/dataisugly. Can you change the colors between the defense and offense to have a greater contrast? Or is there a better way to highlight the different trend lines?
I like the exercise but looking at the graph pains me. I can fix it too if you want to dm me the data sheet you used.
There is a chance we might see another dynasty.
The general performances look like in the past couple of years they’re starting to trend more like the start of the rise of the 2009 team, but the big thing to me that seems missing is that one high velocity veteran joining the team. We need a new Hossa.
This team’s dynasty days equivalent is either 2007 or 2008, The ’09 Hawks tore up the league
