Nico Will be traded
I'm ok with Nico being traded just as long as the return is acceptable. Don't fear a trade.
Florida traded Huberdeau a 120 point player and the team got better.
Ace I agree with you about nico. Something I picked up in his last ice interview at the last home game. He said it twice He said MY TEAM just a feeling.
I do not ever remember him in any interview ever saying MY TEAM
I would prefer to see Nico traded for decent return . Get me right : he is a good player but not a ten millions a year player and not a captain material . He’s not a dawg and we need dawgs badly .
Enough with this “we have to build around” these lightweights. At some point we will need assets to acquire dogs. When Nico goes to work on the boards he is easily disposed of due to his size. Are we sure we want to give Nico a big bag that could go to a better fit. No emotion, logo first
Nico getting traded? Yeah could happen and even more likely because of what happened at the Olypimcs. This team cannot win without Jack so everyone else is trade bait. If a deal can be worked out that would be great.
"DON'T TRADE NICO" He is definitely not the problem. Fire Keefe and get some muscle in the lineup. You always hold onto an asset.. Dump all the mistakes that Fitzgerald made. Devils have to play the "Trap" again. ..
I agree…would love to keep Nico..I think the team is better with him than without. However, if we can get Brady here for Nico, I am making that trade in a heartbeat.
Build around Nico. Trade Jack to fill a couple of massive needs if people continue to value this golden goal bullshit. It’s a major opportunity and should AT LEAST be explored.
There is no player that should be off limits to move. 16 teams are in the playoffs. 4 will be in conference finals. 1 will win the Cup. NONE of them have Hughes, Nico, Bratt, or Meier. NONE of them are untouchable.
Nico is not a captain. We need a guy that leads in all ways in that position. He doesn’t fit the bill. He plays hard but he is not a vocal or physical leader. A captain needs to play hard and be either a vocal leader or be physically dominant. If not, he’s not the right guy to lead us into battle
If any top 6 needs to be a shake up trade, I can't realistically pick Timo.
Nico does a lot of small things for the team that dont show up on the board or highlight reels. He not going to blow someonr up on a hit. But He really embodies playing for the crest. He'll screen goalies , and stick lift to enable others to score, he'll take defensive faceoffs. He knows how to play tge game within the game. It would be wise to keep a selke candidate in his prime here.
I don’t want to see Nico traded and I do hope he stays with the team. With that being said, I think it’s time to make someone else (Jack) the Captain. Players don’t respond to Nico the way they do to Jack. Plus, Jack is the soul of the team. Crest first and if Nico is onboard with that belief, he shouldn’t have an issue with dropping the C. He should see it and do it himself.
You’re right when you say it will be a downgrade with whoever they bring in if Nico goes in the Center position.
I definitely don’t put the blame on Nico for the team performance, only because he shouldn’t have to rally the troops every friggin game. They should be doing it themselves. But they don’t and the dead weight has to go.
I think it would benefit Nico if he wears an A instead of the C anyway. Give Brown the other A also. He seems to have a voice in the locker room that teammates respond to also. Plus he has recently been in the SCF and knows what it takes to get there.
The next GM better not give out any NMC also. That could be a reason why many of the Devils players lack intensity and will to win, knowing they aren’t going anywhere regardless of how they play.
