  1. Larkin is a C1 with a winger thats a 100% all offense stud. He is a great two way player, just isnt magic. I want Larkin for the penalty kill.

  2. Need new ownership, but it will never happen.. They don’t give a shit. It’s just a money maker to them. Same as it’s been for the Fords owning the Lions. Need owners that this wasn’t just a hand me down, that they actually wanted it.

  3. Mo took a big step? I don't think he's moved up at all. Consistently very good. His big step is 15 goals or a shot worth worrying about. Nobody besides Cat had an improved year. Raymond all but turtled from being THE guy. All the kids sucked. Tanguay is crap too.

  4. Go get stamkos, make him the captain, and Kane the a captain, there is your veteran leadship on and off the ice the playoff drought will end!!!!!!!!!!

  5. To catchup with ALL Red Wings content on Woodward Sports head over the Woodward Wings for a more Detroit Red Wings focused channel of all show clips and breaking news!

  6. If everyone played with the same heart, as Alex DeBrincat, Red Wings would be unstoppable
Gibson is a GIANT five hole waiting to be scored on with any shot.
Patrick Kane sorry to say but he was never going to bring the Red Wings back to the playoffs

  7. Top question for postseason interviews should be – do you want to play here or do you want to compete here for an original six organization?

  8. Ilitch is the problem, he is not spending money with the Wings or the Tigers. If he was willing to spend he would have given Skubal the $400 he is in line to make. If I was Stevie I would resign and go somewhere else.

  9. It's going to take 20 million or more a year for Detroit to entice an ELITE player to want to play in this shit show. And then go dodge potholes on the way home. It's going to take a ton of money to get big time talent. And I bet most will skip on the 20 million, just to avoid this debacle.

  10. There is a long standing belief that a really good AHL team should never be able to defeat an NHL team…

Well, last night shot that assumption all to hell. Florida played Matthew Tkachuk and that was basically it.

HOW do you manage to lose that game when Florida is actively trying to protect their top 5 pick? I really do hope Florida was, in their own weird way, sending a message of their own to the Red Wings. A message that says "even on our worst nights, you ain't us".

  11. Hockeytown needs a new leader on the ice! Mo Seider will fill that role real nice! Give the man with grit & fire the “C” and stop rolling the dice!

Stevie Y, are you allowing a guy to captain a team that has no leadership??? As “The Captain” you know that it takes Grit, Heart, 2 way play with a Chip on your shoulder! SeiderChip!!!

Growing up in D town watching Howe a production line declined into the Dead Things was tragic as a boy! Then came “19” 83!!! A goal scorer who elevated his entire game into hockey fame!
You have the guy who can show the boys how it gets done! A quiet leader that will win a Norris along the way, like Nicolas Lidstrom! Peace,
    David ; D ~

  12. Last year at the trade deadline, the Habs and Wings were in similar spots. Larkin complained in the media that moves weren't made. Suzuki personally requested an audience with Hughes to request no trades and promised him and his guys would make the playoffs. Suzuki led his team to a playoff birth. Amassing a ton of points and leading by example. Larkin's squad failed to achieve the goal… Larkin is a very good player. He would be an excellent 2C on an established competitor. But, he isn't the leader this team needs.

  13. Copp whining about outside noise is the type of dude he is. Terrible hockey player , whiney baby that stole 5 mil a year and goes 20 games at a time without a goal. He did that all 3 seasons he was here. Copp is a loser and us fans were forced fed that wimp for 3 years. Why he wasnty health scratched after he whined to the media… GET RID OF WUSSIES

  14. Keep paying the big to the players. Generations evolve with different ethics, genes, attitude, the will, motivation. Pathetic work ethic in this team and individual players.

  15. Here's my plan:

-Yzerman gets promoted to President of Hockey Operations

-Shawn Horcoff becomes GM, or we bring in someone else who is willing to be aggressive.

-Alex Tanguay needs to be fired. His systems don't work and he's out of ideas. Zone entries are putrid. It's all predictable dump and chase. He's part of the reason why 5 on 5 numbers are so terrible and he's been here under 3 different Coaches now. He needs to go.

-We need a second line Center. Go get Robert Thomas, or Trochek. Make it happen.

-The whole bottom 6 needs to be revamped.

-Rasmussen, Appleton, Hammonic, Compher, Chairot, van Riemsdyk, Copp, Perron all need to go.

-I've seen enough from Kasper to say that he's a bust. We needed him to step up this Season and he never did. I saw nothing of value from his play.

-We need passionate and physical players. Players that other Teams are afraid of. We need psychopaths. Guys that will take a pound of flesh if someone takes a run at Raymond like teams did with impunity all year long. We need guys who are real assholes and make it a nightmare to play against. We need grit and depth scoring from the bottom 6. Didn't get that at all this year.

-Cossa needs to be brought up full time. He has nothing left to prove at the AHL level with Grand Rapids. It's time for him to prove himself in the Show.

You're not trading Larkin. That would devastate the Locker room. Don't do what the Canucks did with Brock Boeser and Hughes.

  16. This team showed for 55 games they could be a top 5 team.

It was a mental and heart issue.

Larkin? Loser who Hangs out with pedo protectors

    Rasmussen? LOSER

    Compher? Loser

    Perron? WASHED

    DANIELSSON? Future LOSER

    Appleton? LOSER

That said, I disagree with Finnie maxing out as a fourth liner. He’s got mid 6. If Kasper can get his mental game going and play like his rookie season he’s also shown some potential.

  17. SAYIN IT ALL YEAR!! THE f the Goalie doesn’t stand on his head – WE LOSE!!
Big Mac is a VERY GOOD COACH!!
But need another Scorer and people who can play D!

  18. All you need to know about the culture is that a 5’7 Alex Debrincat played MUCH bigger than 6’6 Trashmussen and “character” guys like Appleton and Compher.

This team was fond good players and a bunch of trash cans

  19. I believe that this group will rebound next year. With some changes. Not much…just a little trade or the right free agent.
Let's move on and look forward to this coming late summer early fall
They will be better next year

  20. When people who don't watch or know anything about hockey try to talk about hockey, we get conversations like this where we're putting a ceiling on a 20 year old kid who was drafted in the 7th round just two years ago and made the team playing on the top line for a significant portion of the season, saying he's a 4th liner at best, as if he hasn't developed astronomically already. And then want to focus on the top six like they're the problem. And then the doomer narrative spreads from there.

Raymond was playing hurt most of the year, Kane missed time early in the year. Larkin through December was one of the best 5 on 5 producers and having an incredible season, and then what happens? As the year goes on, he wears down because he has to produce all the offense, has to be out for every PK faceoff and kill penalties because they don't have guys down the lineup who can do that, and he's centering the top power play unit because they don't have someone else with the skills for that. Guy wears down because there's no depth. Anyone thinking that he's the problem is certifiably insane.

The depth is the issue, particularly in the bottom six. The PK went back to historically bad numbers in March and April because the bottom six doesn't have capable depth players to handle those responsibilities, so it gets left to the same guys who have to provide all the offense because they are also the best skaters and defenders. They simply need help. Yzerman deserves criticism for the roster construction, but it is absolutely more about the bottom six than the top. The top could use some help. A 2nd line center to push Copp into the bottom half would be great, and a winger for Larkin/Raymond would be ideal. But it's the bottom that needs a serious overhaul.
